I just wondered if anyone has any experience of pain and stiffness while on prostap?
I have been on prostap for a year now and I have been getting a lot of joint pain and stiffness in my ankles, knees and hips. Also my bones hurt, particularly in my legs and feet.
In the past couple of months it has got so bad that I am struggling to get up and walk about.
I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this as I feel like no one understands.
As a side note, does anyone know if prostap can cause high blood pressure because I now have extremely high blood pressure too which was not the case before starting the medication.
Thank you to anyone that can reply.

Are you taking any HRT whilst on prostap? I was on it many years ago and found it caused classic menopausal symptoms, understandably, including achy joints, especially upon waking in the morning. HRT should help with that. I assume you’re seen monthly for check up/injection. Worth mentioning your symptoms if they are affecting your day to day activities.
I was taking tibolone at first but I did stop taking it. I have restarted taking it now so I hope it will start to help because it’s got so bad. I am really struggling with pain and mobility. I actually haven’t mentioned it as I didn’t think it was connected but now I am thinking it must be.
Hi, just wanted to say yes I have had stiff joints and also also hypertension. I find myself over exaggerating movements to compensate for simple movements. I’ve only had 5 injections and there is a blood pressure increase to 150 over 100 for me which has been consistent in all hospital checks and at home. Yep no one gets it at all.
Im sorry you feel like it and hope you are getting the support you need. It’s a game changer reduced mobility I’ve put 8lb on in weight as well!
Aww thanks for replying! I’m so sorry you have this too! It’s a worry isn’t it!
My blood pressure has risen to around 190/100 and I have pains and palpitations which are quite scary!
I’m considering not having anymore injections because of this as I need to be more active and that is impossible at the moment with the pain and stiffness!
I was overweight before but have put on another 1 and a half stone since starting the injections just over a year ago.
I am so sorry you are having these problems too but at least we know we aren’t alone!
Hi Capybara123, yes this exact thing happened to me too! I was ok until about month 3 and then it started. It became so bad I was struggling to manage even the few stairs at home. It was like I had arthritis (which I don’t). It was definitely due to the Prostap as it stopped when I came off it. I’m not sure about blood pressure, but Prostap also messed with my blood sugar levels (I’m not diabetic), I had episodes when they dropped significantly and sharply and I had to use glucose tablets to get it back to normal. Overall my experience with Prostap was terrible!
I feel like I am about 90. In fact I have seen people a lot older more mobile than myself. I also thought I had arthritis or something because it’s been so bad!
I hopefully will get some answers at my next appointment.
I’m so sorry 😔, I truly know what you’re going through, it’s awful! In fact I think I described it at the time in exactly the same way as you, I felt geriatric (I’d only just turned 50 at the time!). For me, the side effects (these plus others!) became worse than pain the Prostap was meant to help with, and I stopped it, I couldn’t bear any more of it tbh. Definitely talk to your doctor/consultant about it, and remember you can decide whether or not to continue using it (they can’t force you). 🧡xx
