Hi, I have been struggling with fertility for 6 years now. After blood tests and an ultrasound my doctor is sure I have endometriosis, I am on the waiting list for a laparoscopy to confirm. But I know after 6 years of being unable to conceive and unbearable pains that it’s endometriosis. I am so frustrated with how long I’ve been waiting for this to be confirmed but more the not knowing about my fertility. I know everyone is different and what stage it is will make a difference, but I’m wanting to hear any advice/ stories from other women wether or not they have been able to conceive with endometriosis especially after a long time. All I’ve ever wanted is to have a child and it’s a horrible feeling that it may not ever happen. I would love to hear your personal experiences trying to conceive

Getting pregnant with endometriosis
I’m sorry to hear of your struggle it’s very difficult.
I suffered infertility- it took 5 years & 10 months of infertility until I received a diagnosis of endo.
Following my chemical pregnancy ( after 1st lap) & 3rd lap I had my daughter after a 7 year struggle. For us endo was the only issue.
I hope that can offer some hope that it can happen best of luck xxx
Thank you that gives me some hope! Congratulations on your daughter xx
Hi Josie,
My story is similar to yours. After a few years ttc I had a laparoscopy which confirmed stage 3 endometriosis & adenomyosis. I had excision surgery and done a few rounds of clomid/letrozole after that. My surgery was six months ago and as of yet I still haven’t been able to conceive. I had some relief of symptoms after surgery but now I’m pretty much back to the way I was before the surgery in terms of pain! The next step for us is iui or ivf. I understand your frustration and feelings of what if I never have a child. It’s so hard. If you could afford to pay to have your laparoscopy done privately I would suggest doing that. Also research your surgeon and choose someone who really specialises in endo surgery. Excision surgery is the gold standard and ablation should be avoided. Good luck xx
Thank you so much for your advice, I’ve been thinking about going private as I’ve been on the waiting list for so long and even without the fertility issues, the pain has become horrific and spending most of my time taking painkillers isn’t ideal! It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one feeling this way. Thanks again and good luck to you also xx
Hi Faith-89
I’m in a similar situation as well. I have Endo and Adenomyosis and had surgery to remove both. Going for my 2nd round of IUI and praying to get a positive result this time round. There is not much info on Adenomyosis and pregnancy on the web as I’m sure you have googled a lot just like me. Have faith 🙏🏻 and baby dust to all xx
Hi there! It’s so nice to hear from someone who has both endo & adeno. I agree there is very little info on adeno and conceiving online. My consultant seemed to think the adeno was a bigger problem for me. Had you tried any other treatments prior to iui? I am considering Lupron injections for 6 months prior to starting ivf as I’ve read this can be beneficial. Good luck to you with your next round of iui! Xxx
Hi Faith-89
No medication or treatments prior to starting my fertility journey other than 2 lap scopes and reconstructive surgery to the uterus because of the adeno. I am 38 and have been struggling for 3 years. Scared to use any hormonal medication as it can flame up the Endo and I am assuming the adeno as well. Going to use Femara and trigger shot. Really praying for a miracle 🙏🏻 Good luck to you on your journey as well xx
I have stage 3 endo and PCOS. Had one daughter naturally after 18 months of trying (and a mc). We tried for number two for 2 years. I had a laparoscopy last Jan to remove endometriomas from both ovaries and lesions from my tubes and pelvis. I had 5 rounds of Clomid after that but we decided due to my age that we would go for private IVF. Our 1st IVF round resulted in another mc but I'm currently 29 weeks from our second round. Please don't lose hope. I know it feels hopeless at times but there are still things you can try and the surgery is a good start. Good luck!
hello, I have been suffering with endo for over 12 years, only got a diagnosis after paying privately as pain got soo bad and was sick of being told it was normal!! had my lap this Jan, and after 6 years of trying and convinced I'd need ivf as I have stage 4 endo nd only one tube and ovary working that id need ivf. However I've found out I'm now 7 weeks pregnant. although early days I'm still scared it's too good to be true so paying for a private early scan next week to make sure everything is ok.
never give up hope xx
I too was struggling for four years trying to conceive. I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis during excision laparoscopic surgery with an endometriosis specialist. 7 months after surgery I decided to do ivf. I got pregnant with a frozen embryo transfer. My son is currently 3 months old. It’s been 2 years since my surgery and I’m still symptom free. Do not lose hope there is so much medicine can do to help you reach this dream. I can totally relate to how you feel it’s a constant struggle and heart wrenching just keep powering through this struggle, best of luck to you!
I had surgery in January after having endometriosis for what I believe to be 15 years. Turns out I conceived a few days before surgery, too early to show up on the test. But I’m now 19 weeks pregnant and everything is fine. The endo was on my ovaries, uterus and uterosacral ligaments and had an endocervical polyp removed too.
Stay positive 🙂
