What started with what i thought was a second urine infection of the year, I was then referred to urology. I had been urinating a lot of blood! They investigated for tumours in the bladder and took some biopsies but these were all clear. This was in 2024.
On a CT scan they also found cysts on my ovaries, I was told this was nothing to worry about.
My periods stopped in June 2024 but what replaced them was blood in my urine every four to six weeks. This would include clots. I would go to the doctors and blood would be picked up on the dip test but no infection was found every time. The bleeding is exactly like having a period but its just coming out of the wrong place. Same type of bleeding and period length.
I am now on the waiting list for gynaecology.
I would be interested if anyone else had has a similar experience.

Have you had a cystocopy with the urologist? When they went in for biopsies, did they have a good look around for any lesions?
I used to get this but it was because endometriosis had grown into my bladder and I had a very small lesion inside.
There was always blood in my urine on testing and certain times of the month there would be blood when I went.
I always felt like I had a UTI. It wasn't it was just my bladder on the outside which was fully encased in endometriosis meant it couldnt expand fully, and then it hurt when emptied.
Hi, thanks for replying. Yes I had a cystoscopy and the found lesions which they biopsied and all came back normal. The reason I am considering it might be endometriosis is because reading others posts it just seem to make sense but none of the doctors or consultants have mentioned endometriosis. I'm literally investigating my own symptoms at this point because the doctors don't know what's causing it.
In that case think first step is gynecologist. If you can get the report and check what they tested for and whether it included endometriosis? That might help? It's called a right of access request. I'm not a medical person - just someone who has endometriosis.
yes! I have blood come out of 2 separate holes every time I have a period. The blood out of the urethra is looks more watery and comes out during the first couple of days of a period the whole toilet water is red occasionally every time I do a wee as well.
More recently I had a medium amount of speckled blood come out whilst urinating, this time I had a period 2 weeks prior.
I told my GP and he sent me for a cystoscopy which can back clear.
I have an appointment for a CT KUB coming up very soon for further investigation.
I have a Adenomyosis diagnosis and several small fibroids found recently on MRI.
Never had a laparoscopy.
Life is getting harder alongside the aches and pains associated.
Really contemplating going privately to get a clearer overview, as everything on the NHS takes too long aside from cancer investigations.
Thanks for replying, Ive been searching for answers to this for nearly a year now. Have not had a vaginal bleed since June, just 4 to five days with blood coming out of my urethra every month.
I have no issues with leaking urine all month but when the bleeding happens I have to wear a pad just like when I'm on a period because the blood just comes out. Something gone wrong in there!!
At its worst I would say it felt like a kidney or urinary issue but now I am not convinced. The pain was very similar to having urinary infections. Which all come back clear.
Thanks for replying, I will look in to this too. Its really helpful to hear over peoples experiences because trying to explain this to doctors is a nightmare. Its almost like they dont believe you at times. x
