I'm on birth control pills 42 days back to back contains Ethinyl Estradiol (0.02mg)+ Desogestrel (0.15mg). Yesterday I have taken CCM tablet night 7.30pm. I had different types of abdominal pain at 2.30am I can't sit. Today morning 8am spotting blood like white discharge. This due to CCM tablet?. This is my first calcium tablet. CCM have power to reduce the power of birth control pills? May I continue CCM or stop this?

Please clear my doubt

Thanks guys

A quick google of Vitamin D3 Side Effects

:

"Constipation or stomach upset may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, unusual weight loss, mental/mood changes, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), bone/muscle pain, headache, increased thirst, increased urination, weakness, tiredness, fast/pounding heartbeat.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing."

So it doesn't seem like spotting is related to the CCM, it doesn't seem to have an effect that quickly and there aren't any adverse reactions when combined with a contraceptive pill as D3 is common in most multivitamins and immune system boosting tablets. It looks like it's more likely to be just a random spotting / cramping due to your existing condition. Are you taking the pill to manage endometriosis / fibroids / PCOS or similar? It may be that if you have symptoms coming back you need to book an appointment with your GP.

Am already consultant dr through phone she prescribed to me Ethinyl Estradiol (30mcg)+ Dienogest (2mg). But one thing she told best one is Ethinyl Estradiol (0.02mg)+ Desogestrel (0.15mg). Any questions?

Unless your doctor has told you to take two pills per day, the pills should only be taken one per day as standard, taking additional ones can cause all kinds of problems because they're hormones they can interact with your body differently depending on the dose.

Unfortunately the common side effects of any hormone pill is irregular bleeding so it can happen randomly, again you need to talk to you doctor as you may need the dose adjusting. Sometimes these things can take a few months for the body to get used to so some odd symptoms are expected.

You can look up side effects of each of the hormones you're given:

Ethinyl Estradiol side effects:

Nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal cramps/bloating, breast tenderness, swelling of the ankles/feet (retaining fluid), or weight change may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Many women will not have regular periods while taking this medication.

Desogestrel side effects:

nausea, vomiting (especially when you first start taking this medicine),breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding, acne, darkening of facial skin, weight gain, problems with contact lenses.

Desogestrel side effects:

Menstrual irregularities (if bleeding is heavy and continuous over time, it may lead to anaemia), Headache, Back pain, Breast tenderness, Hot flushes. Mood changes, Acne, Stomach discomfort (e.g. nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain), Weight gain.

Bleeding is mentioned as is cramping so you may just have to accept it's part of what you take or you contact your GP to try alternatives.

No option for me so only I taken 2 pill per day as per doctor prescribed to me and Tranexamic Acid (500mg) 2 per day. You have any options to cure that break through bleeding?. Which combination is best ? for stop my period for 42 days then come period then again start tablet.

Thanks for your reply

We cannot advise on here which is best, you need to talk to your doctor; there may be different combinations of hormones you could try.

Sorry. I do hope you find a combination of hormones which works for you. x
