Birth control pill for endometriosis management

Hello. Can anyone recommend a birth control pill that has helped with endometriosis, that you take back to back and does not have horrendous side effects? I tried Cerazette (or the pill from Hell as I like to call it) and that was just awful. I was just super angry and irritable and emotional on it. Thanks in advance.

So sorry to hear about that Bledie. I have merina IUD. It has worked very well for me.( its white plastic and release some kind of hormones) it’s been almost 5 years now. First few months it will take for the body to adjust but there could always be spotting or other things going

Thanks for sharing your experience! I have also been looking into the coil but was for some reason worried it would cause pain. A health professional told me that there are fewer side effects from the coil than the pill because the hormones that are released do not travel through the whole body.

If you can go in for merina IUD, it would be better than a coil too, from my sis in law experience coil bothers too.

It’s similar, but coil would be a metal and merina iud is a plastic that also sprays a tiny bit of hormones

Hi I've been put onto Noriday after Cerelle (as I found that, like you say, awful!!) I'm on my 5 month now and (touch wood) pain has settled although still bad at certain times of the month. I'm also day 43 and had no bleeding although this is the first month without so far so understand that can depend on your own levels of estrogen... helped for me. Good luck. ☺

I’m sorry you’re feeling like this, I know it can take a few to find the one that suits, I’ve been on Rigevidon since August back to back. It has really helped control the emotional rollercoaster I seemed to be on but every few months I still feel this build up and other hormonal symptoms like morning sickness etc so I have a break at this point, deal with it by maybe locking myself away for the week lol then carry back on my pill. It has helped as this is only happening once every couple of months rather than all the time. I don’t know if I get any side effects from taking it back to back as I also have fibromyalgia which means I’ve been feeling pants for years and I do get headaches but can’t say wether it’s from being on the pill as it’s something I have suffered with for the past 5 years anyway so not sure if it’s changed lol. All I know is I am no longer fighting my extreme emotions as well as everything else and this has had a really positive effect on my relationships and my sanity and it’s helped with the ovulation/menstrating pain, length of period and amount of blood lost too so I’m glad I’m on it. Thanks for sharing your experience! I haven't heard about this one but it sounds like it is a good one or at least agreeing very well with you. It's crazy how some birth control pills can mess with women's moods and affect one's personality even. I'm sorry to hear about the fybromyalgia, can't be easy having that on top of endometriosis! Thanks! that's good to know. I read somewhere what the implant in Cerazette? I know nothing about this stuff! I've heard others speak about no period on the implant and I must say that that alone sounds amazing.

I don’t think it’s guaranteed - I was definitely lucky! I thought Cerazette was the mini pill - I had the nexplanon implant. Fingers crossed it helps you!

I take Yasmin, I don’t really have any problems with it, other pills give me migraines. It’s an expensive pill so they don’t like to give it unless they have to x

im on Yasmin. Its a low dose combo pill. I take it continually for 3 months and then let myself have a period just to check everything is ok. No pain when im on Yasmin.

I had a nightmare with Cezarette. Post lap I've tried Rigevidon (3back to back then a break) and so far it's not too bad. The bleeding during my break week is light and only lasts a couple of days. Had some spotting at the start but none now. Been on it for 18months.

That pill is the worst. I'm normally non confrontational but on this pill I was just raging and the total opposite of my normal self. I'll look into this one, light bleeding sounds good!

Hi my gyno advised me to take dienogest visanne for 3 month its a birth control pills new one for endometriosis patient. Just started on 16 febuary 2018. I dont know if it is going to work its a long term treatment.

Thanks for reminding me about this one! I have actually always wanted to try it. They were fighting for it to be part of endometriosis care in Australia and I read about it then. I'll discuss if I can try it! Thanks!

I had exactly same problem as you I was the woman from hell on Cerazette, i found no pill helped just keep bleeding all the time and have had a Merina coil fitted... I’ll be honest i was in agony for the first 2 weeks from having it but I am 3 months post surgery and has now settled down to an extent but like all these things it takes time.. everywoman is different my mother said she went back to work the day after she had it fitted xx

Thanks for sharing! yeah I am very interested in the coil too but yeah worried about the pain or that something goes wrong while they insert it. I'm sorry to hear you were in pain after it was inserted and bleeding all the time while on the pill sounds awful. It's not easy being a woman! take care

Zoladex is good no side effects no pain but you cannot take it for more than 6months because it's like ur on menopause

I have recently tried the contraceptive patch, otho evra patch is the full name, you put it on for 3 weeks change it once a week, and it pumps contraception into your body.. then you have a weeks break and a small bleed not an actual period, then start it again it’s working wonders for me no pain or bleeding at all sore breaths is the only side affect I have experienced.. before this I had endo pain all through the month, I advise trying it 100% x
