Laparoscopy recovery

Hi everyone, I had my lap on Monday, recovery so far is ok . I’m still finding it really uncomfortable that I can only lie on my back, does anyone know when can I lie on the side? Also when can I remove my dressing? So far I have been cleaned the wound and put new dressing on.

Hi, glad your recovery is going well. I’m now 2 weeks post lap and Mirena insertion. I found I could lie on side after about ten days - which was fab!

I took my dressings off after a couple of days and after showering just made sure they were completely dry.

Hope you continue to recover well x

Hi Sammiestock - just wondering how you're getting on with the Mirena coil after your op? My op is in a couple of weeks and my GP thinks I should consider getting the Mirena put in at the same time (the op is private). However, I've had a bad history with contraception and side effects and worried the coil will give them again - especially the depression! Hows it going for you?

Hi,

I am doing ok luckily, a few twinges sometimes but nothing too painful 🤞 it carries on this way.

I think because it was put in through keyhole maybe it’s inserted better as I’ve had before but via nurse at local gp and had removed a month later due to severe pain.

Always worth a try as you could have it removed!?

Hope all goes well with op xx

I naturally lie on my side and after first night I found myself waking up on my side. There were times it was uncomfortable, but not enough to stop me.

Hope the healing goes well, take care :-)

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and was able to lie in my side after a day, I think that was just where I found it comfortable. Don’t get me wrong it took all my energy to move onto my side though. I took my dressings off after 3 days and the nurse said to just keep the wounds uncovered as they heal faster?

Hi my endo was on my bowel for which I had a partial resection, and I found it really dofficult to lay on my side took me a good 2weeks and even then sometimes it was only a few hours and I’d have to go back to laying on my back trouble was I ended up with back pains.

As for wounds I had two removed whilst in hospital for 8days and the other 3i took off before a shower when I got home and just made sure they were dry.

Good luck

Kelly xx
