Laparoscopy recovery advice

Hey,

I’m 5 days post op after having my first diagnostic laparoscopy and a Mirena coil and I am still feeling awful! Really bad pain, nausea and vomiting and just generally tired and worn out. (I did also develop a bad throat infection after the op). I’m just wondering what anybody else’s recovery period was like, how long it took to recover and how they managed? After a month of really bad symptoms before my op I’m getting really down! Any advice? Xx

Hello,

What did you have done? Do you know if it was laser or excision surgery?

So I’m 10 weeks post operation but excision which can be longer to heal and feel human. It’s so hard to give you a “normal” Aldrich recovery you have to watch for infection markets temperature, sickness vomiting etc. So I’d be heading to get some bloods done to check you over.

I don’t have a coil but someone who did post op can maybe help as I believe they can cause some symptoms of it’s new for you as well.

I think rest and listen to your own body if it doesn’t feel right go to the GP, I’d expect post operative pain but not the sickness and vomiting.

Hope you can see someone soon x

They couldn’t treat the Endo because of the positioning and how widespread it was so I just had the investigative surgery- it did take longer than expected though as the Endo is all over my stomach. I’ve been wondering whether to speak to someone but I don’t want them to turn me away as typical post op? I’ve got no temperature but I have been vomiting. Thank you for the advice xx

Know the feing had abdominal hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. Lots of rest, plenty fluids and pain relief. Be patient with ur recovery xx

I know how you feel! I’m only 17, it’s so life consuming I feel about 100! I had it to diagnose Endo, I’ve suffered for years with vomiting and pain that hospitalizes me constantly but my consultant couldn’t burn it given its positioning :( xx

Get some anti sickness too xx

So what have they offered you. Xx

I had my excision surgery from my c section scar on the 15th June and they fitted the coil. It took my at least 2 weeks before I felt a bit more normal but had constant spotting and bleeding. Then it went for 2 weeks and then came back again and i feel like I’ve have had spotting ever since and a period I guess too.

The pain has now gone but the swelling took at least 4 weeks to go and I felt like it was never going to go. I’m not getting on with the coil so I’ve already asked for it to be removed. You will get there I’m sure give yourself some time x
