More surgery for an ovary that isn’t there

Over a year and a half since my hysterectomy and I’ve just been given a consent form for an oopherctomy with tube removal or cystectomy. Only I’m not supposed to have any ovaries or tubes :( there’s a cyst growing from somewhere and ever though I’ve had all the scans they still can’t tell where.

Really thought I was done with all this... if it is left over ovary or the ovary could I sue?

Is it the same hospital and consultant? What did they say when you told them it shouldn’t be there? Seems a bit odd

I think so yes. He kept saying no it wouldn’t be an ovary or part of it no no. Then a consultant I saw when I was admitted a few weeks ago seems to think it is, then he said ok we need to have a look. I said do you think my ovary may still be there? He said he is covering all basesin the consent form and will see when he goes in. It’s all very odd to me, I was told the MRI would show react where it is and it hasn’t.

I can understand what he’s saying. Ultrasound didn’t show either of mine, MRI only one and he could only see one at lap. I think the consultant is being honest and covering bases. Very frustrating though and once you’ve had it done you’ll be able to decide what to do.

Do you know when it is?

Yes you’re right. I’ve been marked as urgent but he wants me to have a colonoscopy first.

Had a CT colonoscopy in June . Still had to take stuff to clear system, they did it as CT because of endo. Checking to rule other things.

Have you got an appointment for the test?

No not yet. Wereyou awake for it?, did you go gone the same day ? How long did it take? Are you ok now? Those machines are scaryI had a number to call so will try it Monday to see where I am on the list.

Fully awake, had to have the contrast, but I’d prepared for the injection with Emla cream in a couple of places. Took about twenty minutes for the scan, there probably an hour and half with waiting. They inflate with gas before doing the scan.

The CT was done to rule other bowel issues out, which it did. That was organised through colorectal dept. I had MRI through gynae.

Might be worth checking for cancellations and if you can go at short notice let them know.

A normal colonoscopy is a camera used directly. Do you know which you are down for?

Camera as far as I know. I’ll call tomorrow and make them aware of short notice and cancellations ,That’s a great idea. What is the plan with you now then? X

Hysterectomy, but he didn’t mention about getting rid of any more endo. So I’m trying to make an appointment to check whether that is part of it and goes without saying, or he thinks that having a hysterectomy it will go of it’s own accord.

Yeh get them to explain every detail . After I had recovered I felt amazing and have done up until March, but don’t regret having it at all. I hope it goes smoothly for you, but except all help and take recovery seriously. It’s a lot but def worth it I think x

Many thanks, good to know generally it was beneficial.

I keep adding to my list 🤣.

Let us know how you get on with the colonoscopy.

Hello

Take a look into Ovarian remnant syndrome. It's a rare condition where small pieces of ovarian tissue are inadvertently left in the pelvic cavity, following the surgical removal of one or both ovaries. The remnant tissue can grow, form cysts or hemorrhage, producing pain.

I signed a dorm to consent to ovary and tube removal, when there isn’t one supposed to be there anyway. So lord knows how that works either.

So sorry about your friend that is bloody horrific
