Advice needed after a Laparoscopy

Hi I hope everyone is well☺️

I’m in need of advice... I had a laparoscopy done on 6th July where they found lots of cysts on each ovary, a 3cm cyst in my left ovary and endometriosis everywhere. They lasered it all off... but to this day I am still heavily bleeding, I keep getting pain in my left ovary and my dissolvable stitches haven’t dissolved yet. Also, when I go for a wee it hurts! Not when I’m actually weeing it’s towards the end and my womb hurts. I’m not sure if anyone can help me with this... but I’m feeling super depressed and upset as I feel like this operation hasn’t done anything to help😣

Oh and they also inserted the mirena coil too!

Thank you everyone x

Hello

Us ladies are all different when it comes to healing after an op. That said the last sentence of your post may hold a clue, the coil!

Side effects can be heaving bleeding to spotting and pain until it settles down, which can be months. Did your Gynae not advise you of this or tell you how to check that it has not slipped?

I am not a fan of the coil but won't knock it as some ladies are very happy with it. Can only suggest that you go back to your Gynae/GP re the stitches and mention the pain after weeing just in case it's a UTI. Good luck and let us know how you get on🍀

Hello!

No, my Gynae never told me anything about the coil so I’m none the wiser😭 but hopefully it is just my body getting used to it! I shall phone the GP on Monday regarding the stitches and talk to them about the pain I am in.

Thank you very much for your reply, all the best 💕

It definitely could be the coil. I had the mirena inserted at the end of February to have stage 4 recto vaginal Endo removed. I want to give it a fair go as I can no longer take the pill so this is one of the last options. (I have thrombocytosis which causes my blood to clot more and bc pills can cause blood clots). The first 6 weeks I bled off and on with cramps almost all day. I’m now 5 months out and it’s caused severe dandruff to the point that I have scabs all over and I’m losing handfuls of hair every day. I have visible spots where my hair is now super thin. I am still having decent cramping and spotting about one day a week. I’ve been told it can take 6-9 months for your body to get used to it. I’m trying to give it my best try as like I said before I’ve tried all the other non bc pill treatments and this is one of the last. I hope things settle down for you soon.

Oh my! That’s awful for you to have gone through! I hope you’re feeling a bit better now. I’ve concluded to the fact it’s the coil. My emotions have rocketed badly, I’ve become spotty, I’m in pain and I feel sick! I phoned the hospital and had to be very harsh with them as they don’t really care about the coil but they are finally letting me see a nurse practitioner tomorrow! I know my body and I definitely know it’s the coil making me feel this way... I want it out ASAP lol!

Good for you, I can’t fathom anyone being told we can help you but you have to wait 6-9 months in pain to see if it works 🙄

Also if your pain persists, please ask to be referred for excision surgery, don’t allow the NHS to laser you again.
