I had a urine infection last week so was treated with antibiotics that I finished after three days. Since I’ve stopped taking them I’ve had horrendous pain in my right side like someone’s stabbing me, feeling sick all of a sudden with no warning, not being able to eat properly because of feeling sick, feeling tired and lazy, very bloated and sometimes quite lightheaded. Can’t have sex because it’s too painful and quite frankly I’m fed up of feeling like this. Phoned the doctor and had a virtual call with him, he’s down another urine test and sent it off to the lab but have to wait 4 days for results to come back. Has anyone been through this or have any suggestions on pain management?? I had surgery for endometriosis next to my bowel back in February and am worried it’s come back, doctor said it’s a possibility but he wasn’t to eliminate all the simple problems that it could be. I have the mirena coil fitted since February and haven’t had any periods or bleeding with it. Just feel like it’s a constant waiting game just to find something out and I thought all this pain would go away after surgery but it hasn’t.

Urine infection??
Have you been in touch with the gynaecologist? Would be better than GP at this stage. If you haven’t had an MRI, it’s worth suggesting.
I haven’t been able to as the doctor only just phoned me yesterday, hoping that he’ll ring me today or tomorrow with the results of my urine test and we can make a plan to resolve this. If nothing comes of that I’m going to get in touch with the gynaecologist that did my surgery in February that’s a really good idea thank you for the suggestion
I see results online when the come through on the system. I signed up for online access with the surgery, not everyone wants to. Are you constipated? I get similar pains, even though I’m taking stuff, trying to get the formula right. Haven’t been eating much either.
You can phone reception for results, if nothing came back positive they don’t always phone, don’t feel bad about asking.
Last year one GP put a blood test through as urgent, she suspected sepsis, said to call the following day, did this three days on the trot, I said the last time it was suspected sepsis and she asked a doctor, (nothing, which I knew anyway) that’s how bad it can be in follow up. This was before endo diagnosed 🙄
That’s a good idea signing onto the online system. It’s now been 48 hours since I dropped the sample off, they said give them 72 hours before I ring for results as the lab is busy but I’m feeling really unwell and as I work in a pub I’m starting work on Saturday and not looking forward to being on my feet all day with this much pain. I’m not constipated but I am weeing every 5 minutes it feels like and when I try and go for a wee hardly anything comes out but the sensation of needing a wee is really severe so I can’t go out anywhere where there’s no toilets. I think the endo might have come back because this stomach pain is the same as what I had before my surgery which is annoying 😪
Hello Charlotte.
I suffered with this for around 2 months in September and October. Saw GP. They gave me antibiotics for urine infection. Pain got worse. Doctor gave me more different antibiotics for water infection. Pain got worse. Went to A&E. they thought it was a kidney infection. Gave me antibiotics. Pain got worse. Went back to A&E. They thought it was my endometriosis and I was having a flare up. They referred me for an urgent gynae appointment. Sent me home with very strong cocodamol and naproxen for pain relief. Rang gynae. Urgent appointment is on their system. But because of second wave of covid, clinics are backed up or closed. So I could be waiting months. Went back to A&E. They gave me more cocodamol and naproxen. Since then, I have been taking strong cocodamol and naproxen every 4 hours each day. As I said, this has lasted for the last 2 months.
My pain started as pelvic pain, aching and cramping, urgency to urinate and urinating regularly. Then the lower back pain started too. The back pain got so bad that it turned into sciatica and I couldn’t walk for 4 weeks without severely limping. I had to have 4 weeks signed off work. I couldn’t sit down or stand up or roll over in bed without severe sciatic pain. I’m my back, in my buttock, down my left leg. Along with the abdominal pain. I’ve never had anything like it before. So I’m still waiting for my “urgent” endo appointment. I’m guessing my endo has grown back since my laparoscopy just over a year ago.
I hope this helped. Even if it just made you feel less alone in your horrid experience. Take care of yourself. By all means message me if you need a chat. Lots of love. X
