Feeling rubbish

Hi everyone. Just need a bit of a rant and to provided with some empathy. I feel like I am having a rough time. Was diagnosed with Endo after my first lap on October 4th. They excised the endo. I struggle with my mental health and had a depressive episode last week and had a few days off work. Today my car wouldn’t start so I couldn’t go into work and I’m waiting for the RAC to come and hopefully fix the problem. I am at college in my final 8 months of training to be a qualified counsellor. I will be qualified and able to practise in June. My partner struggles with his mental health and has struggles with alcohol. I just feel as though I have a lot on my plate and looking after myself and my health and everyone else whilst working and studying and seeing clients etc is really difficult. Nobody seems to understand. I feel as though I haven’t even had time to think about my endometriosis diagnosis and I haven’t rang up to question why they haven’t arranged a follow up appointment for me. Just feel very overwhelmed and exhausted. X

Hi there, sorry you are going through such a tough time. I know what you mean about no-one seems to understand. All I want is to pause life for a bit and take a break! I had to chase my follow up too - found the consultant's secretary's email in the end and she got straight back to me. I don't think the hospital ever would have booked it if I'd have waited for them. Take care xx

You poor thing, you really have so much going on! Can you take a few days away from work to just relax? Not long now until Christmas, hopefully you'll get a decent break from college and give yourself a chance to unwind.

What you've said about no follow up appointment really upsets me. What is the point of diagnosing it if they aren't going to support you through the management of the condition?? Please do contact them and talk it through.

I would hope that knowing more about what is going on with your illness, how to manage it, and what you should expect for the future will be a weight off your shoulders. For me, not knowing and worrying about it makes me sick with anxiety and really emotional.

Was it a diagnostic laparoscopy or did you receive complete excision of all endometriosis? May I ask why you work and study at the same time? Would it be possible for you to take a break from either? Have you been going for other changes, such as dietary or in your lifestyle? Do you sleep enough?

It was both. They did a laparoscopy to investigate my pelvic pain. They found endometriosis and excised all of it.

I am 30 and have been studying to become a qualified counsellor for the last 3 years. I will be fully qualified in June 2020. So I have a full day of college one day, I have counselling placement another full day and then I need to work 3 full days to earn enough money to scrape by in life and pay bills and for my car etc. It’s hard to juggle it all but I can see the finish line and I just need to get there.

I sleep lots. Always have. 8+ hours per night. I had suffered with depression for 10 years so it just comes and goes, sometimes without a trigger.

I hope you’re well x

I suggest you start by getting your vitamin D levels checked and your thyroid tested out. Sometimes lack of vitamin D or thyroid issues can lead to depression too.

I hope some therapy is included in your counselling course/diploma because it's important to have someone to talk to. Endo can lead to immense frustration, guilt, anxiety, uncertainty, tiredness and anger. It's important to let off steam somehow. Do you ever go for a walk or do yoga outdoors? Spending time outdoors is vital for endo.

Also making sure to get enough omega 3 is vital to fight depression so avoid fried and processed foods and refined carbs and go for lots of fish, especially salmon and mackerel, veggies, pasture-raised eggs, nuts and fruit. We are what we eat to it's important to do that. Bananas contain tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin, the happiness hormones, so do have them. Don't indulge on desserts, pasta, bread too much. Do things you love.

So sorry you feel this way if I was in your position I would seek a gp for some time off due to your depression and get a sick note you deserve some time to recoup the thing we as workers do is never give ourself time to breath and take a step back ive just had a misscarrige and I have had to take a break from work because it’s added stress on my body.im sorry you are looking after your partner it is a struggle I also have lots of people to look after with this condition I currently have living children and a mum with dimentia both my children very young and middle child (age 6)Dosent understand I’m ill at all because to him I look Ok.its hard and adds more stress which endo doesn’t need I hope you can try give yourself some time the holidays are coming soon so hopefully that will help I don’t know how you manage driving even with the condition but some people are ok and manage the things you will have to think about now are where you want to go next to preserve your fertility I’m guessing you don’t have children yet maybe you could ring the department where you had a lap aswell to ease your mind and find out how the operation went I’m sorry your so down but I’m here to talk if you need it you can private message me sending my love
