Endometriosis & Acid Reflux

Hello Girls, I have posted about this before. But wanted to update people and ask more questions. Does anyone have Endo and Acid reflux and take omeprazole?? My acid reflux has started to get out of hand since end of August. Literally can't stop burping. I can have moments where I can't stop and I'm doing it 10/15times then I'll get the hiccups. It makes me feel extremely nauseous. The omeprazole doesn't help. I have been back to see my GP and he is referring me to gastro. Probably for an endoscopy 😥 which I hate. I've had 2 before. I am due to start IVF next year and now I've got this to worry about and it might put all my IVF on hold. I think it's all Endo related as it's got worse since end of August and my periods have been pretty bad since then. I am not on any hormone treatment as I am naturally still trying for a baby. IVF starts next feb/March. I'm due at the fertility clinic end of Jan. Can anyone think of anything? Or maybe be in the same situation? The acid isnt painful. Just sit at the back of my throat and I can't stop burping? Just ends up feeling uncomfortable on my chest. Plz help x

I had the same thing for YEARS! At first I was told it was 'all in my head' and then when everyone realised it wasn't normal to throw up everyday I was taken to the doctors and put on omeprazole and ranitdine (not sure if that's how you spell it)

It started when I was about 11-12 years old (I started my periods at 13 and I'm 24 now) and it was pretty bad then anyway, like literal acid climbing up my throat and continued all throughout my teenage years. It was worse in periods of stress (goes without saying) and it was a bit circular with being in pain and feeling sick before my period was due anyway, so it was difficult to determine what came first sometimes.

My mum also has endometriosis and has the same thing, she was also sent for an endoscopy not too long ago too and she takes omeprazole on a daily basis.

I found that when I changed my diet to eating less spicy foods (I used to love madras) and eating plain foods that were boiled a lot it made it a lot better and I didn't feel so sick anymore. I also gave up milk too. It can be a bit bland at times but it really did help me and I don't need to take tablets for it anymore.

It can still come back if my endo flares up or I'm stressed, but it's a lot more under control than what it was ... I hope that the ivf goes well and that you are able to find some answers soon 💕💕💕💕

There are two reasons we can suffer from relux or heartburn. It can be excess stomach acid or it can be caused by low stomach acid which is often overlooked. I noticed you said omeprezole doesn't help and you are burping a lot. This could indicate you have low stomach acid. Maybe this is something to investigate with your GP.? There might be ways to increase your stomach acid naturally (I'd look online) or you could try digestive enzymes to see if they improve things for you.

Hope you find something the works for you :)

Oh yes! I definitely relate love I have exactly the same I'm waiting to go for endoscopy I'm convinced I've got an ulcer or something I've had a ultrasound but that showed nothing and was to rule out kidney and liver problems I've had endometriosis since 2014 it's got really bad the last 6 months I'm waiting to be seen by a different specialist in a different hospital by, I had gall stones removed at the age of 26 I'm 42 now so I've always had bad acid reflux and always taken lansoprazole but omg the last few months I constantly burp and bring pure acid up or sometimes just liquid and I don't get pain but an awful feeling like pressure under ribcage on left hand side it feels like where my heart is which can get really scary sometimes if the pressure gets really bad I can feel it on same side but in my back as well so it feels like someone is pushing on my back and like there's a ball on inflated in my chest upper abdomen area it's the only way to explain how it feels but it makes me scared to eat and scared to drink anything for fear or the pressure feeling, someone has suggested I may gave an hiatal hernia because I sometimes get a feeling like something is moving around like an alien lol in my left hand side under rib cage, I don't no what it is but your not on your own love x

Ditto to Bubble_by.

Less spicy food, etc (diet care) does help a lot.

I have acid reflux since childhood and back then, there is no name for this condition.

A lot better now, having been taking Japanese meals (which is mainly simply in taste and almost no spice in ingredients) for 30 years now. Suppose that explains.

Not sure if it is related to endo though I did have it but had it attended to 3 years ago.
