Fed up and can’t cope with it anymore.

Honestly so fed up.

This is a long one so I do apologise

I haven’t had any diagnosis yet but I’m 90% sure all my symptoms are pointing towards endometriosis.

My first symptoms occurred after I had gave birth to my first child in 2013

I had pain when having sex. Didn’t think much of it as it was up and down and didn’t overly bother me.

Went on to have a second child in 2015. Everything seemed okay. I had been put off sex with the pain previously. Was put on the copper iud. Had heavy bleeding on my periods was having to change a large night time pad at around 2am every morning because I’d soaked through to the bed. Morning was like a murder scene. And I was in a huge amount of pain during it. Didn’t really ease off much but I just assumes it was normal from the iud. About late 2016 I had missed a period, done the usual pregnancy test and of course was negative.

Fast forward again to about may last year. Same thing happened. Didn’t have a period for two months.

Started spotting a lot but still no solid period

Eventually had one and it was very painful. After that once again no period but lots of spotting and I started to smell bad down there too (not sure if that was another condition)

Plucked up the courage to go to the doctor, she had a look said I was fine and gave me some antibiotics and 3 months of the pill to help “reset” my system. It started to work at the end of the 3rd month. So I though finally some relief.

After a month or so the spotting started again, I’ve had pain so bad in my ovaries I’ve not been able to stand, a hugeee amount of pressure, pain doing the toilet (1&2), pain that runs down the front of my thighs, up my sides and back, pain when putting pressure on my lower abdomen. All this usual happens before my period which is still very irregular. Mostly late and lasting 2 weeks. Had a mixture of heavy bright red and dark red blood, brown blood with tiny tiny clots, orange blood.

Everything got worse so fast.

Went back to the doctor. This one was a male so may have helped with the woman taboo or “it’s just a normal period” he took bloods to test my ovaries, blood count, etc etc. Gave me some painkillers. Had my smear test the week after

Everything came back clear. I started getting pain during sex again as well.

Went back to him again yesterday and he’s now sending me for a scan.

I’m worried incase the scan isn’t when I’m in pain as I’m not sure if it will then show anything. He didn’t give me anymore painkillers either. I feel like I’m just bugging them and I don’t want them to not believe me because everything’s coming back clear. But I’m at wits end now.

I’m tired, I’m sore, I’m grumpy.

I’m a single working mum trying to push through this for my kids but can’t even be half a mum feeling like this. I feel like I’m failing with them.

Hi, so sorry to hear that you are suffering so much. Especially in your situation, working as hard as you do for your family. I really hope that the scan gives you some answers. But, please be warned that endometriosis doesn't always show up on scans. In fact, I will be brave enough to say, that it rarely shows up on scans, regardless of time of month or how much pain you are in at the time. Hopefully it will in your case, or give you another explanation. But don't be surprised, if it doesn't. Or too disheartened.

The only sure way to know if it is endometriosis or not is to do a laparoscopy.

You aren't bugging the doctors, you are concerned about your health, naturally, and you don't want to feel ill, that's why you are going. Sometimes they make you feel bad, but you never should. You need to keep pushing for answers. You know your own body best.

As for the pill. Are you still taking it? Do you take it with gaps or are you on it continuely (to stop periods)? Is it helping at all? Usually with the pill it can take to six months for it be effective, but having said that, you do know in that time, if it's working at all or not. I have tried about five or six different ones. Finally found the right one for me but i do still get pain everyday, it's just to a much lesser degree. And I take it continuously so no periods yay!

Anyway, it's a tough journey, but hang in there. You are doing amazing coping the way you are.

Big hugs!

Thank you. Yeah i didn’t think it would show on a scan most the time. I’m hoping when I get the scan I’ll be able to speak to someone who specialises in these issues.

I’m not on the pill anymore as it was only to “reset” my system. It did help a bit but I was still spotting a lot until the last month of taking it.

Also hormones don’t work well with me so I am trying to avoid them but if it’s the only choice I have to help them I’m going to have to persevere with the side effects.

Have you looked at the symptoms of Adenomyosis, it tends to be unheard of.
