I'm sorry that you're suffering with this; I had my coil fitted in March when I had my laparoscopy, so it's hard to tell what was recovery from the lap and what was cramps from the coil, but I found within a couple of weeks things had gone back to 'normal' endo pain rather than sharp, severe cramps. My first period post lap was within 3 days of the op, so that was the worst, cocodamol didn't touch it, I just had to clamp a scalding hot wheat bag between my legs. But things do improve! I can't take ibuprofen as I've developed an allergy, but I remember when I could that helped a lot with cramping from previous coils. Maybe try buscopan as well. Hope they go away soon! x
After all, what you've had done is just short of being a mini-operation, plus your body is trying to cope with a foreign object in a place that already gives you a lot of pain.
I was warned to spend a few days in bed, and that after, it would maybe take a few weeks, or more, to settle down. I think it was easier than that in the end. More importantly ... it was so worth it in the long run, as my cycle/period-type pains etc got less and less each week, and over 3 months my periods were so much lighter and less painful. By about 4 months, all the worst pain I'd always had - before during and after my 'period' time - got less and less each time, until it had disappeared.
I then had 5 years of pain-free bliss.
Ask about painkillers, but if you can, try to stick with the coil for a bit longer. The coil doesn't work for everyone, but it is worth trying, as when it does work for one of us - it's brilliant.
It took several weeks for mine to ease! I had a very traumatic and so I put it down to that. Have you checked the strings? Make sure you can feel them if you can then just do all the bits you normally do for cramps. If not then pop to GP. Hope it eases for you xx
I've had the Jaydess since August 2018. The first few months were terrible - intense cramps, even just walking around seemed to trigger it. ended up lying on the floor of the microscopy lab at work, lots of codeine.
Although things seem a lot calmer now cramp wise, I still get intense cramping contraction type pains at the same time every month, and then 1 week later also. I can control and limit these by taking ibuprofen ahead of my monthly pain date, and seem to be able to carry on business as usual just a bit tender. Also sadly been getting cramps related to exercising - I went to Zumba once and it took me out all evening with contraction pains! So running long distances is off the cards for me for now.
I'm still not sure what im doing with the damn thing, hence my recent post about giving up on the IUD. Didn't get any suggestions on when to call time on it. The thing is, I have found that I no longer get the dyschezia (pain to empty my bowel) after having the IUD. So maybe it is doing some good afterall?
I hope yours settles down! Clearly, it seems to take a long time for it to calm down for some of us. Probably due to our existing problems down there
Ditto! I ended up in a&e today due to the pain. The coil seems to be in the right place but they’ve booked me a scan for Thursday just to be sure. I was told to just up my tramadol intake and wait it out 😩
