Does anyone else get menstrual like cramps after they've been for a run? I've seen on here that some people experience pain whilst running, but mine comes on a couple of hours afterwards and can last until the next day. It feels like moderate period pain, even when I am not on my period. Any ideas?
Cramps after running?: Does anyone else get... - Endometriosis UK
Cramps after running?
I don't run but I do have dogs that demand a walk...! I find that if I walk for any longer than 30 minutes I will suffer from cramps and back pain later that day and for a few days after.
(I also get cramps after sex/orgasm)
I believe mine is caused by adenomyosis and not my Endo.
Best wishes,
Barbara
One thing I have learned with endo, do not do anything to injure yourself inside if you can help it..
Stop running if that hurts you - try out a less impacting sport instead.
Endo or Adeno are bleeding illnesses- if you overdo the exercising you can cause it to bleed, and you can get cramps and those pains are warning signs that you have done too much.
Cycling, swimming, pilates, badminton, walking etc are likely to be a lot kinder to an unwell tummy than running. Exercise with caution and listen to what your body is telling you.
Thank you both. Feels like a shame as I love running, but I will think about a gentler sport!
How about roller blading instead? Just a thought.
I am exactly the same, any time I over exert myself I cramp in pain, I have been known in the middle of gym session to run and throw up do to the sudden onset of cramps. However I find this is predominantlely when I'm ovulating or around the days of my period starting. If I could predict this then I would plan to maybe curb gym/running and opt for swimming around that time. However I really have no idea when one period will be from the next until a day or so before!!
