Hi everyone, just introducing myself. Been lurking for a while and this forum seems really useful and supportive. Thank you for being here!
I have a diagnostic laparoscopy tomorrow and have never had any kind of surgery before so a bit scared, but I feel very prepared with lots of baggy clothes, big pants, mint tea, audiobooks galore and even a long thin hot water bottle for shoulder tip pain. Fingers crossed, wish me luck!

Good luck with your Lap! I had my first one almost 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely fine. I was extremely nervous before mine too, but everyone was really lovely and caring! The recovery hasn’t been too bad either, just be prepared for some emotional highs and lows as well as a bit of pain! ☺️
Make sure you take a pad with you for afterwards, I bled quite a lot straight after!
Thank you @Stephsieb! Packing my bag this evening and will definitely include my own pads Glad to hear yours went smoothly. I hear the emotional turbulence is par for the course. I've told my mum who is staying with me afterwards that I'll need extra TLC and might be a bit weepy.
A bit of TLC does go a long way! Also, ask if you can have someone there with you when the surgeon comes round afterwards! I was so high off morphine and the anaesthetic, and crying too (no idea why I cried! 😂) I literally haven’t got a clue what the surgeon said to me afterwards - so still don’t know if I actually have endo or not! 🙈 all I remember is that biopsies were taken. Good luck! xx
Haha oh no! Poor you! Yeah I have asked my mum to try and be there if possible to hear what they say (if they come around at all - apparently they may just write to me). When will you know your results?
I’m off to my GP today to extend my sick note as I’m not ready to go back - so I’m going to ask about it then! If they know nothing, I have a follow up appt in about 5 weeks time to find out what’s going on! 🙈
Haha yeah it's nice not to be the only one! I'm actually having a weird day today luckily I'm not at work so I'm making a roast & colouring to take my mind off it all! The pain is not at it's worst so I can move about but i keep feeling like I'm going to pass out which is weird haha got a long bubble bath before an early night for the 6am start tomorrow erg! How are you feeling? I thought I would be a lot more panicked than I am but I'm actually quite calm about it all just want answers! x
A roast and colouring sounds very soothing and fortifying. And baths are obviously excellent always. Would like an early night myelf but the hospital has given me these glucose drink i have to have at set times up til 11pm. My admission is at 7am too. Been a bit on edge about it for weeks but I just want to get on with it now!
Ohh what a nightmare they haven't given me anything just told me not to eat 6 hours before! Let me know how you get on! Fingers crossed for some answers x
Hey Sammi! Oh no, really? So sorry to hear it. Mine found mild endo and removed it but suspects adenomyosis has been partly responsible too. I've now got a coil so that will address pain regardless. Much less pain than I expected and miraculously no shoulder tip!
Wahoo I'm so glad you have answers!! Yeah i was never convinced it was endo anyway but they wanted to rule it out first for some odd reason. I'm really suffering with the shoulder gas & my stomachs dead swollen but no where near as bad as I thought it would be xx
