Itchy stitches post-lap

Has anyone used anything to relieve the dry / itchiness of their stitches post lap? I’m about 9 days after and my tummy is so dry (I think from the bloating), moisturising around the stitches but tbh they look like they could do with some love!

Any recommendations welcome, thanks x

I had mine done Wednesday and when they get itchy or sore I kind of just go around the out side of them softly with my hand it seen to sooth them sorry to not be much help. 🙄🙂

I’m still getting itchy stitches (scars) and my operation was 18 months ago! No idea what might help this far down the line but when they were fresh I itched around and / or put a cool flannel on them.

I used coconut oil around the wounds on mine as they were so dry and I got a rash from the dressing on my lowest incision point. I find it good for calming skin and aiding healing.

Hey, glad your recovery is going well :)

Dryness - you could try coconut oil, aloe vera or argan oil. They're all natural so won't affect the healing process.

I found normal moisturisers like savlon and e45 kind of dissolve the scabs so I don't like those.

My first surgeon long ago (not for lap, but something else) recommended vaseline and it has always worked for me. Coconut oil etc. should also work well. The skin is healing, so fully getting rid of the itching might be hard, but it will certainly help.

Hope you are healing well otherwise. :)

Thanks all for your replies, hugely appreciate it 💞

Annoyingly I’m allergic to coconut, but can totally see why this works as it’s a natural ingriedient! With that in mind and in case anyone else stumbles across this thread...

I’ve gone for treating it like it’s my face (ie sensitive) I’m using hyaluronic acid from the ordinary and Weleda skin food on top (both meant to be very natural) seems to be okay so far and definitely less flakey xx
