I had my first Lap 4 weeks ago and I’m having my first post-op period. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I also have Fibromyalgia which also is painful, but I’ve been experiencing pain around where they treated endo, and cramping pains too. I have a Mirena coil fitted now and was told it can take time to settle, so again not sure what to expect but although the bleeding is thankfully less heavy than pre-Lap it is still more than just spotting. I suppose I just want to know this is all normal and that things will get better in time?

Post Lap period
It'll take up to four months or sometimes longer to recover from your lap, you've had lots done so expect the first few periods to be a bit different.
Our bodies can't tell the difference between removal of endo and endo pain, or even just investigatory pain, so we think it's all the same your body is healing inside, so it'll take a bit of time.
Plus it can take some time for you to get used to the mirena coil, that can for some women take up to 6 months. Although being on the mirena and it being hormonal shouldn't produce periods - that's why it helps endo, oestrogen stays low and constant; no cycles. The hormones prevent ovulation and thus no period. Some women have breakthrough bleeds so it's worth keeping an eye on those.
It seems like your pain is from the actual lap and your hormones settling in line with the mirena xx
Thank you so much for your reply, that’s really helpful x
perhaps google the mirena coil, there's usually an NHS page that explains side effects, that may be good to have a look through x
Thank you, will do. Today I felt dizzy in Tesco and the cashier told me to sit down while she packed my bags for me! I think I over did things and I just not able to do too much. I think the dizziness and brain fog might be due to meds and Fibromyalgia too. But maybe I should check the NHS site.
oh noo poor you
Yes check the meds on the NHS site. If you feel they could be having an effect on each other or still aren't sure go to your local pharmacy; they can check for you.
Drink lots of water - sounds weird but it keeps your blood pressure level when standing for long periods and take a snack with you; I find if I'm out standing up too long I need to have a snack as I feel like my energy level just dropped.
I remember my first period was painful but not heavy then next was really heavy. I think we’re all different but it took a few months to get over my lap and then when I had my mirena about 8 months! Sorry it’s going to be a journey but good luck xx
