Hi, I'm about to finally have an excision and also want to come off my pill after this. I've had endometriosis for 14 years and have been on the pill for 9. I've had a pill change last October after first op but have had so much more mud cycle pain than ever and just think what's the point and may aswell see what my body does naturally? How have you found coming off it? x

Hi I was actually on it for only 6 months as I didn't see a difference (this was before I hate the op). I'm like that to I just want to leave all natural, so I haven't gone in it after my op x

Hi I had my op in may and was advised to have the marina coil. I went ahead with it and I don't know if it's a coincidence but it's helped me so much. Took a good couple of months to settle down and for any spotting to stop but now I have little to no cramping, no bloating and my flow is so light. For me it was the best decision x

The merina coil is often run recommended as it’s a more localised treatment but do speak to your consultant for advice also

I chose not to take the pill or have the coil. Also TTC but recently started pelvic physiotherapy which is helping 🙂

I chose not to take the pill also. You have to do what’s right for you and your body. x

Hi there. I was recommended the merina coil but as ttc obviously not an option at that time. Since the birth of my baby all symptoms have returned. I returned to gp who prescribed mini pill because I was struggling but it just didn’t sit well with me so I have since not been taking anything. Just been trying to eliminate the advisory things from my diet like caffeine and trying to manage that way. It seems to help - takes the edge off but not always . It’s so hard . Different things work for some and not others. Mini pill was def a no no for my me xx

Hi, I was recommended the mirena coil too. But I thought I could try change my diet instead of taking any hormonal meds as they don't agree with me. Even though the op found more endo and "removed" it all last December, I was still suffering quite badly. At my 3 month check up I had given in, and requested to go on a progesterone only pill. First 3 months were not pleasant, 4th month calmed down but the 5th month brought back annoying side effects like mood swings and irregular bleeding as well as still feeling some endo pain. I'm on my 6th month now and it seems to have calmed down again but I'm also at a crossroads with whether I'll continue or try something like a CBD oil.

Xxx

Hi I'm glad it's helped you, maybe give it more time and see as it's seems to be improving! I think all these need time to adjust to our bodies and see if it can help xxx

Hi I chose not to go on any hormones after my excision op.

My reasons were;

1. As I have had as much endo removed as they can I wanted to see how I felt / what my symptoms were once I had recovered so I had a good basis should my endo grow back and produce severe symptoms.

2. I'm not a fan of hormones as they to me mask the original problem which is endo growth; if it's causing pain etc then the root cause should be addressed as hormones will hibernate endo causing it to grow slower but it will still grow.

3. Hormones are chemicals and everyone reacts differently to them therefore the do come with their own side effects and not everyone suits them. Thus going on them straight after the op could make some women feel worse.

4. I'd like a relatively normal life post surgery without worry about taking any medication or having to disclose medication.

5. I wanted to get to know my cycles after endo removal, my cycles were all over the place before. As I feel this will help me better understand what symptoms are endo related. Now they're just around my period and can be managed with relaxing, yoga, meditation and exercise.

6. Should I opt for surgery again in the future (2 ops at the moment) I want to know how I'd feel after medication free.

Hope this helps xx

Hi thank you that was really helpful!! I think I'm still just going to carry on without the pill and see how things go don't want to rely on it xx
