I've been unhappy with my treatment option offered to me by my gynae (6 months Zoladex and then "we'll see"). I have an unusual endo presentation where it seems to be mostly growing inside a large fibroid that is growing outside my uterus and presses towards my back. It's possibly also elsewhere in my pelvis but the doctor has given me very inconsistent information (I was told it's severe and everywhere and then was told it seems to be just in the fibroid- it's all been from 2 MRIs and a CT scan). I have no period related issues but have all the other usual ones- chronic fatigue that is completely debilitating, constant chronic back, constant abdominal pain and occasional bloating.
Like most, I've had a total run a round with doctors- not being believed, been told it's 'just' stress, been told it's definitely not endo after a lap, my difficulties are definitely not caused by the fibroids and of course, that I 'just' had IBS. I don't really have much faith in doctors. Over the past 4 years, I've thought I have had lots of different illnesses- some have been suggested by health care professionals and some has come up from my own research. As a result, I've done a lot of reading about various health conditions and I see a lot of overlap with endo, fibroids and autoimmune diseases. I'm much more into a holistic approach and treating the underlying cause of the illness or problem, rather than just trying to reduce the symptoms. I'm so sceptical about using synthetic hormones to 'treat' the endo symptoms/fibroids. I just feel it's like throwing an unknown liquid into a blazing fire in the hope it might put it out- the liquid could be water, it could be petrol and the fire could be from burning wood or could be a chip pan. There's just no way to know if it will put it out or make it worse. I am very keen on an alternative route and have gone back to the theory that my issues are a result of a hormone imbalance, most likely, estrogen dominance. There seems to be a lot of research supporting this is underneath a lot of 'women's issues' and the ways to treat that seem a lot more desirable than what I'm being offered medically.
I'm planning on adopting a hormone balancing diet soon (just once I've finished my birthday cake!) and will be really looking at any potential toxins in my environment. I've already been living a bit like this the past 2 years but not consistently and not strictly. I also plan on using a progesterone cream. I know they can be quite potent so I wondered about getting my estrogen levels checked before hand. I've found a place that does the serum test and I'm going to do it before I use the cream and then check it each month.
I just wondered if anyone had any experience of all of this?
