I had my pre-op today and wanted to give some information for anyone waiting for their pre-op.
I got there about 10 minutes early and was seen straight away by the nurse practitioner. She was really nice and asked me some lifestyle questions like do I smoke, drink, any allergies. It was all really simple. She asked me how many pillows I sleep with at night, which I thought was a funny question, but maybe they need to know so you're comfortable on your bed on the day of the surgery. Then I went back to the waiting room for maybe 5 minutes before a different nurse called me. She was very nice as well, and she carried out the tests, which consisted of blood pressure, blood tests, ECG scan, height, and weight. I told her I don't like blood tests, so she let me lie down on the bed while I had it done, and chatted to me about stuff. As soon as I finished in that room, I was called into the third and final room with the pharmacist lady. She spoke to me about my medication and gave me my papers about when to stop eating and drinking the night before the surgery. Then that was it and I could leave. Overall, it took about 45 minutes, from arriving at the hospital to leaving. I had been anxious about it, but it went very well
