Pre op done and no surgery date?

I’m feeling very deflated, exhausted and anxious

I had my pre op assessment this morning, where I was told they should give me a date for my surgery... but they didn’t.

I asked and they said oh you’ll get it at some point.

Has anyone else had this? How long did you wait?

I suffer badly with anxiety and the longer I’m waiting the more I’m working myself up?

Yeah i had to wait to. I think pre-op to op can be unto 16 weeks. Mine was 20 weeks so I had to have another, more up-to-date pre op

I had exactly the same as this. I am under at Royal Derby Hospital and they said they would send me a letter in the post within 2 weeks after my pre op. I was told the waiting list was long but I was put under as urgent. I got the letter for a date for my first laparoscopy at the end of March and the date for my operation was 30th July. I thought this was absolutely ridiculous. It wasn’t because of the bad care of the consultants, doctors, and nurses it’s because of the underfunded NHS. Due to this I have decided to pay to privately and my operation date is 23rd April. It’s so appalling that people have to pay to get the care and treatment they need. Try not to stress and get worried, you should find out shorty but depending where you are in the country it could be a 5 month wait. I hope you get the answers you deserve, I completely understand your frustration right now x

Sadly this is a national problem. I had my pre op November and I still don’t have a date yet! It’s such a horrid feeling not knowing or being able to plan. It’s really affected me mentally. I hope you don’t have to wait too long x

I had the same thing on Monday, no date at the pre-op. Said I may have to go through the preop again if no appointment :(

I had my pre-op at the end of march. I'm still waiting to hear back from them. Glad to see I'm not the only one getting a little anxious about not hearing anything. I'd take any news even if it's for an op months away or just to say they're still looking. Hearing nothing makes me more anxious.

Hope we don't have to wait much longer.

I had a pre ok back in January but didn't know what operation it was for and neither did the pre op team. I have had to fight to discover what operation it was and when it would be. I was told eight weeks wait for surgery at the end of Jan but got a date for May. Again after phoning up most days to find out. How relevant the blog tests act will be five months on I don't know as things could of changed

When I had my pre OP in January it was very general and nothing to do with the operation itself just covering the general health bits. I am probably not going to get my surgery till June.

I was told my pre op was valid for 3 months and then heard nothing until right near the end where I got a date for two weeks time. I went to Royal London Hospital, I imagine it's probably less last minute outside of London (but may well be wrong!)

I had my pre op last Tuesday in Romford, Essex and I’m still waiting to hear a date. I was never told how long the waiting list was or anything.

When I asked how long to take off work I was told 1 week and I’ve seen people on here mainly say they take off 2 weeks

I had my pre-op in October last year and still waiting for an urgent op date from Romford. Keep ringing but they say the earliest appointment is in July. I’ve waited over 8 months since being referred for surgery now. My consultant has now referred me to a private hospital (funded by the NHS). But that waiting list is over 4 weeks...

Hopefully you hear soon! X

Oh my god that’s so bad!! I hope you get your surgery soon! I will ring Queens and see what they say.

I’ve started to see a doctor at the pain clinic which I’m paying for privately as the pain as been so bad.

I’d suggest phoning the hospital and asking to speak to your consultants secretary. Try to arrange an appointment with your consultant to see about reducing your waiting time. You never know you might be able to Change to a surgeon with a shorter waiting list or to another hospital. Don’t give up! It’s a bit of a pain but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the end x
