I have my pre op and was wondering what kind of tests did you all have? What happened in general at the clinic? Did you meet your surgeon or someone else?
My ultrasound scan is a year old so would they do another one?
They will probably be sick of me with all the questions I have for them tomorrow haha
I kind of need a rant about guys and how annoying they are! My dad made me go golf today and I feel like sh*t. I’m so tired, my hips and lower stomach were killing me all day.
Also during the round, I kept getting sharp pains in my ovaries especially when I was twisting? It happens a lot. Should I mention this tomorrow?
Now I’ve just got home and just to the right of my belly button, it’s so sore to touch and move in general!
I have to act like I’m okay even during my period otherwise my parents say I’m over reacting and it’s not that bad. It really frustrates me because men will never know what it’s like. However my boyfriend and another guy I’m good friends with, instantly understand. My dad on the other hand is completely different.
Sorry just need to get that out

For my pre op they weighed me, took blood from my arm, did a finger prick blood test, took my blood pressure and asked me about 1000 questions!!
I had an appointment to speak to my consultants registrar and she referred me for my laparoscopy that day, and it just so happened that they had space for my pre op there and then. So I don’t think I would have seen my surgeon or the registrar on the day of my pre op if I’d hve had to come back at a later date so unless you have an appointment with your consultant then you probably won’t see them.
The pre op was all done by nurses. I think I saw about 3 for all the different parts of it. And they will probably want new ultrasounds. They did for me and mine were only about 6 months old. I had them done literally 2 days before the laparoscopy.
Hope this helps. Sorry your dad is not understanding of your situation. I hope you have your answers soon, I’ve seen your posts on here for a long time so I know how tough it’s been for you. Hopefully you’ll have some relief soon. X
I know I often think that too, I’m sure you will get some answers. Unfortunately for me I didn’t but I understand your pain, I’m currently having a horrendous period too. 😒xx
You wouldn’t probably be referred for an ultrasound because a lap would show more than an ultrasound anyway, but it all depends on the hospital waiting times and if your surgeon feels there is a need for one, and all my preops have been done by nurses, you’ll meet your surgeon the morning of your op and you’ll be able to ask him/her questions then, they’ll take blood pressure, bloods, a urine sample, work out your bmi and answer any questions you have, don’t worry about annoying them, better you’re informed than unaware
Sorry about your dad, just take advantage of when you can relax and sit down, keep hydrated, keep your pain killers topped up and keep comfortable x
I didn't need an ultrasound for either of my pre ops it was basically just to get some medical history and check I was healthy for the op. My pre op last week only took around 20 minutes xx
I’ve actually been for two pre ops as I did the first one and they never sent me a lap date so they said I needed to come again so I went Monday for my surgery on the 18th.
For both my pre ops I had to be weighed and height measured, blood pressure taken and oxygen saturation (although the nurse wasn’t to happy when it said 85% because it had covered my false nail more than my finger whoops)
After that I had to sit on a computer and fill out a very long winded questionnaire about any health problems, allergies and medications.
After this I was took into a room to see a nurse who asked me loads of medical questions again and asked if I had any questions, at this point I’d tell you to take a list written down if you have a lot so you don’t forget any.
After this I had to go for bloods but unfortunately after 5 pricks they couldn’t find my veins and sent me to the actual blood department who got it first go (darn my rubbish veins) it’s a good job I’m not scared of needles.
You will be absolutely fine just make sure you ask all the questions you have and good luck!
Thank you, I have my notepad to write everything down and the questions I have.
I’m one of them people who have to know everything about what’s going on haha especially when it comes to surgery as it’s my first one and I’m petrified. Xx
I completely get that it’s my first lap for endo but I’ve had a few different surgery’s in my life so I’m not too petrified about it, all I can say is try not to build it up too much as everyone around you knows what they are doing and they’ll be happy to answer as many questions as you need to ask. I’ve also bought myself some bits and bobs for recovery to keep me entertained and having to buy some parachute knickers and nighties for afterwards it’s a really good distraction from the surgery thinking about what you’ll need for recovery and doing a bit of a shop for that. Xx
Yeah I’m going shopping tomorrow for nighties and slippers etc.
I’m a bit more nervous as my period was so short this month, like 3 days so it’s making me think, what if nothing is wrong. It’s just the pain side of things throughout the month xx
Well if nothing is wrong in that sense then at least you have explored that avenue is the way I see it. If it’s bad pain as well it’s worth trying different things so you can pinpoint what it is and manage it. It’s a step closer to helping the pain. Xx
I've been reading a few of your post and I have 99% of all your symptoms and I really think you may have chronic neuropathic pelvic pain like I have. They were so so certain I had endometriosis and they got prepared to remove it but then when they went in they found none! So basically I had a burst cyst and pelvic inflammatory disease which led to nerve damage and chronic neuropathic pelvic pain. Literally was speaking to an a and e doctor the other day and he said he has a ridiculous amount of young girls our age come in with the same thing but it's so difficult as the body is so complex.
Please please don't worry about your dad. You are in a lot of pain and it's certainly not in your head! I really think it's unfair that you have to go and play golf at the moment because of the pain you are in. You need to pace yourself and rest to let your body recover.
I really hope you are okay and that your lap goes well!
