Is it diagnostic lap or are they going to treat you. I suspect diagnostic if they suspect it's on bowel and bladder xx

in reply to AllWeNeedIsluv

It’s a diagnosis Lap, and also biopsy of cyst on ovary, have you had a Lap ?

What do I expect to happen ?

It's obviously nerve wracking if you've never had surgery even if you have it still is. It's not bad at all you'll go in as a, day case potentially stay over night if your last in (I was) you'll see the surgeon and drs that day they'll talk you through the procedure ask you questions about your problems and make you aware of any other procedures they may want to do with you. Nothing major just tests that maybe can get done whilst your under.

Then you'll go to theatre when it's your time they'll take your bp and put a canulla in then put your anaesthetic in within seconds you'll be in a deep sleep. When they wake you they'll probably tell you straight away what they found. Iv got a good memory so I remembered. You will probably feel sick. I was sick and you'll start to feel sore. You'll have something to eat and drink as you won't have before surgery and they'll wait for you to wee before going home with meds. You'll need to rest and prepare meals if your alone before hand. Drink peppermint tea to help with gas pains and keep in top of meds. Pack loose clothes or long nighties so your not irritating your tummy and pack a pillow for drive home. I'm sure others will help if iv forgotten something. Oh yeah keep propped up with pillows and have your heat pad hot water bottle at the ready 💗🤗😘 good luck hun xx

I suggest investing in serrapeptase for after your surgery it helps you heal faster and stops scar tissue from forming 💗🤗😘 if your not taking blood thinning meds xx

One more thing make sure you take it on a empty stomach and make sure to get the enteric coated one. I take it first thing then don't eat for an hour or don't eat for two hours then take it so when you go to bed so long as you haven't eaten for 2 hours. Good luck hun 💗🤗😘

If you have any specific questions message Me! I had my lap this Monday so it's all very new and fresh.

Docs didn't go in thinking they'd find anything but found endo and a whole mess haha. I may not reply straight away but please don't hesitate... or just comment on here and I'll answer I really don't mind 😊😊

Hi LozzaWozza123,

When you woke up how much pain were you in ? And with first Laparoscopy when they found the Endo did they remove it all there and then or do you have to go back for more treatment ? I have a huge Ectropian on my cervix and also a cyst on my ovary so I am having biopsy’s done too. 🙂🙂

in reply to

This was my first lap.

When I woke up I wasn't in pain at all... I had a bit of discomfort so I just mentioned it to them and they dosed me up with more painkillers. If you do wake up in any pain or discomfort say it when you are in the room where you wake up.. they'll have the strong painkillers and can give them to you pretty much immediately even if your pain isn't bad at all - they literally want you to be at most comfortable they can get you before you go back into the recovery room to eat etc.

They didn't expect to find anything as all previous tests were clear so they expected my op to be a quick in, out I told you so basically. But to everyone's surprise and my delight they did actually find endo. They removed an adhesion and unstuck my right ovary from my bowel but there was a few issues.

1. Because they didn't anything was wrong and that my pain was not caused by a gyne issue they didn't think to ask for my permission to remove cysts - and there is one in my left ovary that they couldn't do anything about at the time.

2. They don't specialise in bowels - so the removal/unsticking of the ovary from the bowel was pushing it. The entire back of my womb is stuck to my bowel but it's way too dangerous and the gyne isn't trained in that.. The bowel specialist needs to be there aided the operation and there are a lot more risks involved than a normal lap.

So I have had work done, just not everything as they don't want to put you at risk you are in the best hands. Recovery so far has been ok a little sore but I've been able to get up and go for a short walk etc. I haven't done my first bowel movement yet but I'm too scared haha even passing gas takes force i can't quite get yet.

I have to go back in for another operation in the future - timing depends on if what they've removed helps now or not. But for that operation there will be a bowel specialist so they will literally remove everything they can because they know it's there now.

So id assume since you know what the problems are already they will be ready and prepared to try and remove everything they can. Although their plan will be explained to you on the day as first thing in the morning the docs come round and speak to everyone they are working on and ensure you are happy with the plan.

Good luck!!

P.s. prepare for a sore throat and drink loads when you get out because I spent many hours trying to wee just so I could go home 😂don't be afraid to just keep asking them for water my nurses found it hilarious as almost everyone had gone home and I was still there almost chugging water 😂😂 also if you go through a hot flush ask for an ice pack. I was lucky I had a window bay so I could open the window too but the ice was a saviour as I didn't want to make other people too cold. Especially as they ask you to stay warm before your op and for a while after but I hate being hot I use the cold to keep me calm and it makes me feel better.

So basically if you want something don't be afraid to ask or get whoever is with you to ask haha.

Again good luck sorry this went on so long!! X

What are your symptoms. Because I think it’s effecting my bladder and bowel as well.

in reply to Sway72

Hello NTED,

My symptoms for my bladder are I always have huge pressure on it, generally going to toilet every 2 minutes to pass trickles, sometimes painful other times irritating.

I have found my bowels have became very weak for example I can’t hold once I need to go I have to go there and then

Pain constantly but not a bad pain it’s tollerable.

How are they treating it

in reply to Sway72

There is nothing they can do until they have a look inside, my doctor prescribed me some tablets to try and calm my bladder down, but I was scared to use them as their was a chance they would stop my bladder from working properly. I just have to wait after my Laparoscopy to see what’s been going on inside x

That’s what I’m scared of, that it’s real bad once they get inside
