Pre op?

Hi everyone.

Ive read so many comforting and really informative posts, but I’ve not seen much about pre op meetings.

What should I expect at my pre op talk?

Hi Alivia. Pre op is nothing to worry about. They just take you through a big health questionnaire, weigh you and take your blood pressure. Sometimes take your blood depending on when they last took it. They basically just make sure you are fit enough to go under a general anaesthetic. They also tell you what to expect when you get your operation. Think it lasted about an hour. X

I hate needles so hopefully they don’t need more blood from me.

You get a massive health questionnaire and they take bloods, urine, weight, height and all that, they ask if you have any questions and go through what will happen during the procedure and after 🙌🏻

As well as what the others have said, I also got an ECG. I don’t think they do this all the time but I’d never had one done before, and it was my first general anaesthetic too so think that might have been the reason.

I don’t have a pre op with mine! I rang and asked and they said they don’t do them with a laparoscopy - having mine priviate though
