Hi thanks. Do you think that’s pretty standard or did you feel that was quick/ slow.

I suppose we always have to come second to any emergencies so they won’t give any idea of time frame

Hope you’re well x

It got cancelled the first time but the new date was like 2 week after. It was pretty quick I think but it would have been longer if I didn’t complain to PALS xx

I recently complained to PALS about the wait for ‘urgent’ MRI results and found them a great help in pushing things forward. Got an appointment fairly quickly after only to find nothing was answered relating to results.. just that they’ll book my operations so I guess that’s something.

Been told today (after harassing secretary) that my pre op is 14th November, got to call waiting list people next week to get idea of op date.

I’m so impatient with these things xx

I’m impatient with recovery atm, I’m 3 months post op and my periods are still horrendous xx

Oh no, bless you that has got to be so frustrating. How are you feeling in general? Did they do much during op and was it your first?

Wishing you well and hope the operation turns out to be a good choice for you xx

It was my first and they removed endo and a large cyst on my ovary. I’m feeling a lot better outside of my period now which is a good thing xx

Hello hope you don’t mind me asking when you contacted PALS did you get a date sooner? I am still waiting and been put on the 12 week waiting lost which will end start of November and been told it will go past that date now :( not very happy about it as want a date but realise they give priority to urgent cancer cases x

As soon as it went over the 18 week limit I contacted PALS and they gave me a date which got cancelled but rescheduled 2 weeks later so wasn’t too bad.

Yeah emergencies do take priority it’s like when surgery get cancelled if an emergency comes in etc. There’s nothing we can do about that.

Definitely worth contacting them after a certain time period though xxx

My op was booked a month or so ahead then my preop came through two weeks before my op.

Ok thank you for your reply.

I suppose every hospital/consultant does things their own way. I’m assuming there is some kind of time frame otherwise the pre op goes out of date.

This whole illness/diagnosis is one gruelling waiting game for us all x

Hey vmagpie, I got my pre op date through for 23rd November and I called the department to see if they could give me a rough date for the op they advised me end of Decemberish?? I am on the waiting list for cancellations too but told there is 10 people ahead of me for surgery, I really don’t want it running into Christmas I mean who wants to be poorly for the festive period it’s the only time I get time off to see family, which are all in Ireland, so I can’t plan anything at all till I get that date through!! Like everyone the waiting is the worst it’s like we have to put our lives on hold for treatment/pain etc xx

Hi Blake16,

I’m glad you’ve got pre op date and a rough albeit vague op date. I was told to wait a week then ring waiting list people. I’m not even sure with my job if it feasible to be put on cancellation list, it’s a new job and I was hoping I’d have already had my lap by now.

I’m scheduled to work Christmas so I’m hoping mine comes either side of it as I can’t afford to not work around that time.

It’s so horrible, we play a cruel waiting game at every step.

Fingers crossed for us both we get our ops the week after pre op 😂... I can dream can’t I ? 🤷🏻‍♀️. All the best xx

Thank you. That’s quick :) or have you waited forever for this bit?

Good luck, when’s your date? Xx

Thank you my op is 12th nov. I was told it would be late December. But had an mri 3 weeks ago and got a phone call Thursday giving me both dates. So who knows. They also booked me in to see consultant Tuesday so guess I’ll find out then xx

I was initially told by my consultant I needed a Lap in August this year with the date of surgery around February next year!! I kicked up a fuss, complained to PALS, rang the consultants secretary often with updates on how my symptoms were progressing & got a date sooner (5th Nov) . 6 months wait was too long for me, the pain & flare ups have taken over my life. I advise to keep pestering, contact pals & refuse to accept pro-longed waits if your pain is unbearable xx

vmagpie in reply toPaulaxx79

Thank you I will. Already used PALS to get my mri results as they told me in June I’d need a lap and they’d do an mri (well 2) before setting a date. Had my first mri 5th aug, mentioned I’d been told I needed 2, they said not..told I’d get results in two weeks as it was down as urgent, chased them for 5 weeks only to be told I was booked for another mri two days later, told the same about those results and chased them for another few weeks until I contacted pals and saw consultant last week who was so vague about my results but did say he’d book me for a lap now he has them... I see another call to pals on the cards because he’s not focusing on my main symptoms well brushing them off already telling me they’re not to do with endo, he’s just interested in the lump as he’s removed 3 this year from other patients post c-section.

Good on you for pushing harder for better care, it’s bloody exhausting.. but then again everything is exhausting with all these symptoms one of them being severe fatigue.

The things we go through 🙄🤯

Keep me posted on your progress and I hope all is revealed and fixed during your op xxx
