Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light for me? I have my pre op on 11th October however have had no date for surgery. Is this quite normal? And if so how long after pre op is surgery normally? Many thanks x

Hi
I didn't have a date for my op when I went in for my pre-op. They said it was so they could check everything (blood pressure, heart rate etc) was ok before issuing me with an appointment.
I did get a letter a few days later with my date. Think I was just over three weeks from pre-op to actual op.
Hope you don't have to wait too long x
Hi there,
I’ve just had my pre op without having my surgery date too, but really hoping I’ll hear something very soon! Good luck and hope you hear back soon x
Bizarre isn't it! Hope you don't have to wait to long either and good luck x
Hi, i have never had a pre op without my op already booked, so it seems strange to me.
A pre op is vaild, at my hospital, for 16 weeks. Good luck
I am a waiting list secretary at an NHS hospital. The pre-op is purely to make sure you are fit for an anaesthetic. The Anaesthetist insists on this before surgery. As soon as I receive a waiting list slip, I request a pre-assessment appointment for the patient. It is only later that I will look for a date for the patient's actual op. The assessment is valid for 3-6 months. Hope this info helps.
Thankyou that definitely helps ☺ I won't need to ring them today now. Thankyou x
I got my letter today! I’ve been booked in for 11th October 😱
