Hi everyone, just a quick question about the mirena coil - had it fitted last Wednesday (02/08) during my lap but I've had nothing but pain ever since. Bleeding has been okay, there hasn't been very much at all but I've had constant, horrendous period pain that gets especially bad when moving around/walking. My lap did find endometriosis and a cyst, but I feel like the pain is worse than before. Could it be because of the coil and how long should I give it before saying enough is enough?
Thanks in advance!

Lap Cyst treatment is very painful I found. I had a coil insertion at the same time. I developed pelvic pain I'd not had before the op and bled horrendously for 5 or 6 weeks then my periods stopped which was lovely.
Mirena can often take 3 months to settle. I gave mine 5 months but the daily pelvic pain persisted by then I knew it wasn't the lap. I decided net net that daily moderate pelvic pain was not an improvement over monthly period pain so had it removed. The pain stopped after 7-10 days .
If you can give it at least 2 to 3 months I would try to as they do sometimes just need time to settle and you have had surgery treatment and internally healing can take up to 12 weeks. You'll know by then if it will settle I'd have thought.
But it's your body and only you know what is best for you.
Thanks for replying. It's easing off slightly now, I've actually bled for a few days so wondering if that was the cause/not helping. I'll keep an eye on the pain but I want to give the coil as long as I can tolerate to see if it works!
