Hi, I had my 1st lap done last Monday 16th were I had large patches of endometriosis and numerous adhesions removed. Although I'm healing well on the outside I still have chronic pelvic pain that don't seem 2 be easing since the surgery, in fact it's worse then before the lap. Is this normal? And if so how long does it take 2 ease? I'm so worried incase they missed some and I've still got 2 live like this. I just want the pelvic pain 2 do 1 and give me some pain free time until it comes back. I know I'm probably expecting a bit much giving it's only been a week but I'm sure u ladies can understand wanting it all just 2 go away and live a normal life.
Post lap pains.: Hi, I had my 1st lap done... - Endometriosis UK
Post lap pains.
Hi Hun. I know it's hard but you need to be patient. It's still really early days and you still have a lot of healing to do inside. It can take a few months to get any real relief from the surgery.
Make sure you get plenty of rest and do over do things.
I agree with Jean, it is still very early days. I had my first lap just over 5 weeks ago, and it does take time to start to feel normal again. Get plenty of rest and as each day passes you will start to feel better. Xx
It is early days and you need to remember what they have done inside you, your wounds are still healing and your organs have been pulled around, give it time, and get some strong pain killers, xxx
Hi. I had surgery on the same day (16th). This is my third laparoscopy, so I've had experience of recovery before. Whilst the doctors say that keyhole surgery is pretty quick to recover from, you are still basically having significant surgery. I'm in more pain now than I was two days ago, but I remember from last time, it's quite up and down with recovery. It will take several weeks to heal internally and further weeks to settle down. Don't panic that the pain you have now will be the same forever, it will probably subside gradually over time. This was the case for me last time.
What pain meds are you on? I've still on 2x500mg paracetamol and 1x30mg codeine. I am trying to cut the codeine down a bit from 4 to 2 a day to give my bowels chance to work, but it is a struggle. Just make sure you are controlling your pain with good painkillers, just until the pain subsides and you can start cutting it down.
I've been signed off potentially for 6 weeks (my surgery lasted 3.5 hours and I had a lot of excision, adhesion removal, cysts removed from both ovaries) last time I was signed off for 2 weeks only, but could have done with a bit longer. Everyone is different and every surgery is different in regards to recovery time.
Hope you start to feel better shortly. Remember to rest and not over do things as this will set you back x
Feeling the exact same way as you. Op was on 13th and was gutted last night to have to tank myself up on codeine again. Endo nurse at hosp said it's normal and normal to feel emotional after it too, hang on in there. Fear of it not being fixed is horrid isn't it.
Desperate to get on with life!!!
Same here, had mine on the 12th. Am a shell of a woman! Still needing to rest HEAPS. This is my second lapo but this time for endo, and it's taking longer this time than the previous which was for a cyst only.
Thank you ladies. I know I'm being super impatient and paranoid that I'm not going 2 be pain free. I'm on paracetamol and ibuprofen as I can't take codeine which sucks. I hope your all recovery well and resting and I appreciate the comments
