First period after lap...

Hi everyone!

Anyone who read my post 2 weeks ago would have read I was worried about what the surgeon had done to my belly button as it looked very different to when I had my appendix removed, and I was worried it would heal that way, and attached a picture, I'm pleased to say that the swelling has gone down and it is starting to look normal again, phew!

I'm on day 1 of my first period since my lap. I had my lap just over 2 weeks ago. I don't have natural periods as I am on the pill, periods hurt before the endometriosis diagnosis despite being on the pill which helps period pain, and today is no different, the period pain is very intense. I have even resorted to taking the remainder of my post op painkillers which I only took for 2 days post op. It's not too heavy ( yet ) but I suppose it's down to the pill as it's never heavy. Is the first period supposed to be this sore? It's worse than what I normally experience, contracting cramps front and back. I was hoping the removal of endometriosis would help my symptoms not worsen them?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me. :)

After my last op (my 4th) the following period was absolutely terrible but after that the bleeding reduced and things settled over the next few months. (I wasn't having naturals periods before the op either). Hope you feel better soon. x

Thank you,

I feel like it's a setback in recovery having a period so unlike any others. Usually I bleed very little but was still painful, this time is very heavy after lap, not sure why since I'm on the pill, they just found mild endometriosis, would I have to go for further laps in the future as I have been given no follow up advice? I am 26 and have no children but have not ruled children out in the future. Thanks.

I think that's pretty normal for the first period after the lap to be quite painful. I have a few friends who have also had this and I had my lap 2 weeks ago and have exactly the same. From my research despite the fact that we have had surgery to remove endo it can actually be a few months for periods and pain to actually start to get better xx
