Endo pain relief with combine oral contraceptive pill.

Hi all,

I have been prescribed Yasmin combined contraceptive pill to help eleviate the pain I am getting from endo. I was diagnosed in November 2015 after having a lap and had one month pain free until the ache started to come back. Now six months after my first lap I am experiencing a lot of pain everyday as well as nausea all day and fatigue. I have just completed my first pack of 21 pills and have not felt any benefit so far.

I was wondering how long it took other people to feel an improvement in their symptoms and how quickly they came back if they came off the pill to try and conceive?

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I can't find any articles relating to this on the internet.

Hiya, I have been on the pill for years for my endo (about 25 years with breaks when I had my kids). I recently stopped taking the pill and the first period I had the pain was back with a vengeance, the next periods were worse. So for me the pain was back immediately. That is because the pill masks the symptoms, but doesn't halt the growth of endo. I went back on the pill as I couldn't stand the pain and I will get surgery hopefully soon, and it took three months for the symptoms to get better, but they haven't gone away completely and it has now been four months. I hope you get relief on the pill, if it isn't better after three months, try a different pill. Sometimes you get better luck with a different one.

Hi,

Im 42 and had my endo excised 3 months ago.

Like you,i was offered the pill and i have decided not to take it.

For me i just didnt want to be confused about what was causing what and whether it was the pill.

Some of this could be.

Have a look at that pill too on the packet,is it estrogen dominant in the ingrediants?

I could be wrong, but i thought this one was,if it is it will not be helping at all it will be feeding the endo

Kind regards

Rose

Thank you both for your messages. I really appreciate the info. I was on the pill for 10 years before coming off to try and conceive. Didn't have any problems on the pill apart from a small amount of breakthrough bleeding a week before I had my 7 day break. I am hopeful I will tolerate the pill well in the future but I don't know to what extent it will mask symptoms which are already troubling me. We will see in August I guess when I see my Gyno again. So far still have pain and fatigue everyday. But so nice not to have a heavy painful period so that's one improvement. Got to look for the positives where you can.

Wish you ladies well.
