shooting pains post lap

Hi

Just wondering if anyone had experienced shooting pains up the central part of your vagina(sorry it’s the only way I can describe it) after having a lap done.

I am 8 days post lap (diagnostic plus excision plus ovarian cyst removal) and the pains started around 3 days ago- I have never experienced this before but am aware it is a common problem for some who suffer from endo.

I have also been suffering with nerve like pain in my legs and buttocks/lower back. This is my first Lap.

thanks 😊

hello, I have had exactly the same pains (post laparoscopic hysterectomy) it’s strange as I didn’t have it with my last 2 laparoscopic procedures for the removal of endo but I have heard this is normal. I have also been getting extreme shooting pains in my rectum. I am seeing my consultant for my 6 week post op appointment this week so I will mention it. The pains in the vagina do ease off so try not to worry too much. Hope this helps!

Hi Ginger, I had this post-op, it was happening every few seconds and worse when I moved. My consultant had no idea, put me on Pregablin and after about a month it stopped on its own. I still get shooting pains maybe a few times a month, a sudden shock and then good again. Hopefully yours will ease completely x

I had my first lap 10 days ago and about 4 days ago I started experiencing shooting pains in my uterus/ right ovary/lower abdomen. Sometimes the pains are also in the rectum. It’s a very sharp shooting pain that almost feels like an extreme pinch. It comes and goes very quickly. When it’s happening it’s even painful if the slightest thing touches the skin of my lower abdomen.

It almost feels like the nerves are coming back to life or something? Not quite sure how to describe it. I also find it to typically happen more so when I need to make a bowel movement or pass gas. I never experienced this before my lap. I have not yet mentioned it to my doctor but when I do I can post an update as to what she says.

If anyone has any insight on this it would be very much appreciated!!

Yes I think it has something to do with bowel movement too! I’m going to give it a few more days then call the doctor as I’m not due to speak to consultant for another 5 weeks.

Did you have any bowel involvement in your laparoscopy? Hope you are recovering well, I completely underestimated the recovery process and whole procedure to be honest. X

Yes, I had multiple lesions removed off my bowels as well as an adhesion removed off my rectum. I ended up having stage 4 that spread to my diaphragm, perforated it, and partially collapsed my lung. My diaphragm had to be repaired in addition to all of the endo removal as well as an appendectomy. The recovery for the first week was pretty rough. I was not expecting it to be as tough as it was. Now, 10 days out I’m starting to feel more back to normal. I hope your recovery is going smoothly! Rest as much as possible!

Side note: I usually find the shooting pains to be worse and more frequent when I am laying down on my back. Not sure if you are having the same experience.

I'm a week past first lap and also getting the same shooting pains specifically when I pee. Spoke to the nurse who said it would likely be everything settling after all the organs getting moved about during excision. My urine was clear of infection. Really struggling with recovery still so tired and sore. Mental health really taking a battering. Hope you feel better soon x

Sending you love I know how you feel my hormones have been literally all over the place I’ve felt so low- almost like I’m not in my own body it’s hard to describe the feeling other than invaded? 🥲 just keep resting and taking each day as it comes..I’m 10 days now and only started to feel improvement yesterday xx

I feel exactly the same, lowest I've ever felt. I feel like I'm fizzing on the inside and a constant headache like my brain is swelling against my skull. Sounds weird but true! I'm due my period in a few days and only stopped bleeding after 8 days from the lap. My lower back is killing me so it feels like I've went through this for nothing. I have andenomyosis too so it's still there causing pain. Sending healing vibes glad you feel a bit of improvement. I washed my hair yesterday after a week and thought I'd turned a corner but back to square one today xx
