Can anybody recommend a good book for the endometriosis diet, still suffering nearly daily pain after my last laparoscopy with a BSGE specialist, happy to try anything that could help! Absolutely sick of painkillers xx

Hi I've just asked a similar question on here and had some helpful answers. I have the "Recipes and Advice for Endometriosis Sufferers" by Carolyn Levett. It's very very descriptive about certain food groups etc and why to eat or avoid them. I would say that I think there could be more varied recipes in it but to be fair she's given recipes which don't involve anything endo sufferers should avoid (it's a lot!).

From my reading on here and from that book it seems that cutting out red meat, dairy, eggs, soy products, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and wheat is the way to go! I'm about to start this journey as I too am fed up of drugs.

Oh you could try Pinterest if you're on there, I search a lot of recipes on there.

Good luck and if you find another good recipe book please give me a shout! X

Hello, I've just left a rambling post on Brottonbabe's post about the diet so won't repeat it here but headline is I've found it more do-able than I thought. I recommend Henrietta Norton's "Take Control of your Endometriosis" book - (recommended by someone on here). It's a bit less nuclear /more do-able approach which I've found helpful. She recommends a 2 week "cleanse" to start with - but not if you're TTC so I haven't done it.

Good luck - I've found it empowering just to be able to do something pro-active so that's good for the soul at least. And I'm really not finding it too difficult (I'm keeping reduced and select dairy which makes it easier e.g. Organic yoghurt and goats/sheeps milk cheese). Just prioritise finding food you really like that's on the ok list an don't punish yourself by forcing yourself to eat stuff that you don't like

Hi,

I have recently purchased the Caroly Levett book and found it a really good read, the advise explains not just what to eat but why and there are some great substitute ideas.

I'm at the end of my second week, the diet is wheat free, dairy free, red meat free, sugar free and soy free, I decided to give up smoking at the exact same time as starting this diet, so let me say it has been a LONG few weeks! I am yet to notice any difference in how I feel, but I am very new to the diet and am on quite strong painkillers so I am giving it time. There is a LOT to give up, however if it works, it will be completely worth while!

Great tip if you have a sweet tooth - 1 cup almonds, 12 dates, 2 tbsp peanut butter and a little agave nectar, chuck it all in the blender to grind and roll into balls, it is DIVINE and I make up a load to keep in the fridge, (then I eat one pretty much every time I open the fridge! oops!)

A x
