When my pain or sickness is bad and I have no appetite I make myself eat. Sounds wierd but sometimes it helps. You need energy to fight pain. I just take nibble amounts of very plain things like oat cakes or rice cakes ( not wheat). Tramadol also helps me a little. X

Hey,

so sorry you are feeling bad - feeling sick is so horrible! I had peritonitis over Christmas, from an abscess on my ovary, and the being sick was the worst I've ever had. Warm ginger tea actually really helped with the nausea - I boiled up a some water in a pan and added a couple of quite thick slices of fresh ginger - let it simmer away a bit. Just little sips through a straw when you are feeling bad. As long as you dilute it so that the ginger isn't that strong it's really quite soothing!

If you are being sick and worried about feeling weak because you can't eat you can add some glucose powder in as well, or maybe teaspoon of honey. If you're not feeling too sick a bit of fresh lime juice squeezed in is quite nice too.

I hope you feel a bit better soon,

xx

Hi, I agree with the other two ladies. Eating actually helps my nausea go away, don't know why!? But constantly snacking and sipping on drinks really helps me. (Maybe it's the action of food going down my throat that's preventing that horrible feeling of it wanting to come up, who knows??) I've heard about ginger helping too so always worth a try. I moved on to cyclizine after domperidone stopped working however I feel like that is no longer any good. One drug that I know is like a miracle drug when it comes to anti sickness is ondansetron. I know this because my mum was given it during her chemo. I always thought it was one of those drugs that was expensive and was only used on the seriously sick however 4 weeks ago when I went for a day procedure (various cameras in my womb/bladder etc) I told them I felt sick after coming around and that I had cyclizine in my bag but the nurse said not to take it and low and behold she presented me with some ondansetron! This is way better than your cyclizine she told me. (not that I needed telling, I saw how amazing it was for my mum) She gave me 4mg which I know must have been a tiny amount compared to my mum and all those others on chemo, but worth you knowing it exists if you didn't already. Good luck, I hope you can find something that suits you better :)

Is the sickness from any medication? Just wondering as I have started getting nausea and random sudden onset vomiting. Got to wait until Tues to see my GP.
