Vitamins for endo?

Hi there, can anyone tell me what vitamins to take to help reduce fatigue and endo symptoms? X Thanks in advance! Any help would be appreciated. I have a cupboard full of vitamins but have done some research and it's an information overload!

Arghhhh no please don't or at least do read up on them before deciding to risk taking either of them.

Both are not endo friendly - the Agnus Castus promotes oestrogen production which is what feeds the endo.

As Endobegone says below - the B vitamins are certainly helpful

but do get your thyroid levels checked out with your GP to identify if there is a problem with the thyroid as that can give you fatigue.

A visit to an endocrinologist can help to check which hormones and chemicals your body is lacking and what needs topping up. Iron for anaemia for example, if you bleed a lot is another one you can look in to helping with fatigue.

Agnus Castus is definitely a probem for endo.

webmd.com/vitamins-suppleme...

and Evening Primrose can mess up the blood clotting causing heavier longer bleeds.

webmd.com/vitamins-suppleme...

though it does state

"Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). There is some early evidence that a specific combination of evening primrose oil and fish oils (Efamarine) might reduce the symptoms of CFS. However, study results have not been consistent." so be a bit cautious with that one too.

At the end of the day it is your decision - but do research all the separate ingredients of supplements so you have a good idea what you can expect to be the results of taking them.

I haven't found anything to improve fatigue yet. wish there was a magic bullet, but despite surgery and mirena sorting out my pain situation the fatigue factor just doesn't go away.

Hi impatient. I've had all my blood works done and all was okay. I get a lot of anxiety which I don't know whether is linked to my endo, but I think that causes most of my fatigue, or vice Versa. I've just had the mirena put in when I had my lap two weeks ago and so far so good. I did end up with an anaerobic infection - (whatever the heck that is), after having the mirena put in and quite a lot of pain etc but got put on antibiotics straight away which have helped. I'm still in pain but just the usual endo pain. I'll definitely take everyone's advice and start doing a little research. At least I have some sort of clue as to where to start :) much appreciated xxx

L-methylfolate (active form of folic acid) and b12 (Methylcobalamin) for fatigue. Pycnogenol (antioxidant herb 200 mg) fantastic for the period cramps and pelvic pain. Recommended by endo specialists for endo. Also, b6 (100 mg) helps me equally well with both the pain and the mood. Always vitamin D (5000IU).

Stay away from all other herbs, as none have been clinically proven to help, and most are estrogenic making endo worse, instead of better.

Hiya - I started taking co enzyme Q 10 2 weeks ago and do feel better. But then again, it may because I am on down regulation drugs for IVF which is calming my endo. I just don't feel quite as tired as I usually and always do. Also taking Omega 3 fish oil and eating a good handful of walnuts each day for overall good health. I'm not man about walnuts but its a habit now and I just don't think about it - there are so many health benefits to walnuts that its crazy not to eat them unless you have an allergy.

And I am massively reducing diary and wheat (but do have the odd treat and even skimmed milk with rooibos tea) and think it's all helping.

Reducing sugar will also help with fatigue, stick to natural sugars in fruits. It does all help but may take a while to notice the benefits.

Oh and, try to drink the NHS recommended 8 glasses of water a day, even if small glasses - it will help with energy levels. I started doing this nearly a month ago for IVF and I think it's really really helped my energy levels and my skin is so much clearer.

I don't know which has made the difference here but I think it's a combo of them all. Im no angel, I still have a bit of chocolate most days, but it's my only really bad habit and all the other goodies are balancing out the baddies. But I genuinely think that changing these few things will help you.

Some great tips there thank you!! Xx Good luck with the IVF. My friend has just got pregnant on her second attempt at IVF. She had a bit of a bad time with the first attempt but is half way through her pregnancy now and loving every second.

Vitamins b will make a HUGE difference on your energy levels, and your skin. Pycnogenol is also great for the skin. Mouth ulcers are usually symptom of low immunity or candida, so try to improve your gut health ( as 80% of immunity lies here) and avoid sugar.

Thank you for the reply xx I have some B vitamins so il start taking them. And I'll look into pycnogel for my skin :) thanks again

Probiotics and B12 supplements sometimes give me a boost. L- Glutamine if you think you have candida issues to help heal the gut and this helps the probiotics do their job better. I prefer B12 patches as our gut doesn't always absorbe some vitamins so well as the skin, like Magnesium too. I agree with endobegone mouth sores can be an issue with candida that is underlying. Good luck!

Hi there, agree with all the above, but definitely keeping your gut clear and free of Candida will help. Cutting out sugar and dairy helped me massively along with taking a good probiotic.B complex is available in the form of sublingual drops too which absorbs much better. Magnesium in second half of your cycle (after ovulation) will help. Take a good omega 3 supplement to keep inflammation down and a high strength antioxidant.

You might also consider taking coconut oil, either in cooking or a spoonful a day if you can (make sure it's the raw organic version)- it's antifungal antibacterial and antiviral- contains lautic acid which eats away the Candida in your gut, extremely good for your gut and recommended for endometriosis sufferers.

I think June of the best books out there about this us by Diane Shepperson-Mills. It goes into it hugely. So I know you feel like you've got info overload. But I keep going back to that one and I know i feel better when I read her stuff.
