I'm due to have my third lap. Last lazered 31st July 13. I could be waiting another 6 months (been waiting 3 months so far) I saw an endo specialist on NHS in May and he said the idea of the operation is to not just remove small spots of endo but to try and remove as much of the lining as he can. Does this mean total peritoneal excision? If so what's the recovery like? How long did the op take? My endo was last found on my left pelvic wall, right utero-sacral ligament, pouch of Douglas and behind left ovary. I'm also having a cystoscopy as it may be on my bladder. I'm due to have an epidural infusion for pain relief afterwards (I've had lots of difficulty with the ward I'm being admitted to with pain relief) has anyone else also had one?
Wishing you all a comfortable day x

It sounds like it may be what your consultant is suggesting. We've had lots of discussions recently so it might be worth doing a search. My TPE surgery was 4 hours and recovery was very straightforward. No piece of cake but I was only on paracetamol for pain once I was back on the ward. Where abouts in the country are you? X
I'm glad you had a good recovery, I've read a few bad things. 4 hours is quite a while, I've only been under for a hour at a time. I know the cystoscopy will probably add on an hour or so. I've read about patch excision and wondered if that was a possibility instead of the TPE. I'm in kent, where are you? X
I had lots of stuff done in my lap so thats why it was 4 hours but everyone's different. You need to be confident both in the proceedure your having & the surgeon who's doing it so it might be worth having a chat with your consultant about your concerns. I know someone who thought the team at UCL did TPE but i didn't ever find out if they did or not. The only surgeons that I know who do TPE are in Yorkshire & Lancashire so you might not be having TPE anyway - probably worth checking if it's concerning you. Good luck x
