Diagnostic lap

Hey - I had my first diagnostic lap on Monday and I'm still feeling rough! So bloated with the gas, tired and very sore. Is it normal to still feel this way if they didn't really do anything?! They inserted the mirena. X

Any operation will take it out of you - you'll be knackered from the anaesthetic and the gas takes a while to get out of your system, and even if they haven't lasered anything out they'll have prodded you about a tonne, you will be sore! I've always said the doctors are REALLY blase about laps, they told me I could be back to work the next day - LOL! It took me a whole week to be able to walk properly for more than half a minute and to stop feeling so bloated/sore and the first few days were bed-bound. Then another couple of weeks to stop feeling so tender, and you shouldn't exert yourself for a good 8weeks after the op date. So listen to your body and don't worry about it, it will be slightly different for everybody, but ANY surgery is a major thing for your body to go through so it will take it out of you! xx

I felt sore for at least a week after my lap and they didn't really do much lazaring in me either. Even after a week I still found driving a little uncomfortable as you pivot from the waist so much. Try and do some gentle exercise e.g. take a slow walk (at shopping pace) which will help dissipate the gas. I found a little fresh air and exercise helped me sleep too which wasn’t easy as I had to prop myself up because I couldn’t straighten out my tummy. I was amazed some people go back to work the following day. I felt rotten for days! I was given a sick note for one week but I had a desk job at the time so going back wasn’t too strenuous. If you think about it you’ve been blown up like a balloon and prodded about it’s no wonder you feel tender and bloated! Listen to your body, everyone recovers at a different rate so only do what you feel comfortable doing.

Hope you’re on the mend soon x
