Diagnostic lap rescheduling time?

Hi everyone,

The hospital I'm due to have a diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy at on Saturday (with pre-op on Friday) has stopped all operations and appointments that are not essential (which I'm fairly sure covers mine, even though it feels quite essential to me!) for today and tomorrow due to the snow. With the weather not looking great for the next few days, I'm trying to prepare myself for the fact my op might be cancelled. But really hoping it won't be...

Anyone else who has had a cancelled lap - how long did it take them to reschedule? This is through the NHS, by the way. I was so lucky getting a quick appointment, but feel like that might have been for nothing now and just trying to mentally prepare myself in case I have to wait for quite a while longer. I'm in constant pain with no answers yet and feel like everything is out of my control. Which, to be fair, the snow definitely is!

* Update * My pre-op and lap have both been cancelled due to the weather. The pre-op has been rescheduled for 14th, the lady I spoke to has no idea when the surgeries will be rescheduled for though.

Oh no, I remember commenting on your previous post because i have mine next week.

It's a difficult one isnt it because it's out of your hands. I guess they might let you know on the morning of it incase theres an improvement in weather.

I've just been waiting for confirmation that I didn't still have MRSA and the nurse was so good at my pre-op that she pushed for the results and rang me herself even to tell me that I'm clear.

I can't comment on when you would have it if it did get cancelled but I'm sure you wouldn't have to wait too long.

I have everything crossed for you that it all goes to plan. Please let me know how you get on, I'm getting a bit nervous xx

I think I'm a bit of a control freak haha...I just hate that I have no hand in what's going on at the moment. It's so hard to plan, not knowing what kind of pain or symptoms I'm going to wake up with, so the unpredictability of the snow on top of that and getting worried about everything lap-related anyway has just about finished me off!

Thank you so much. I've got my fingers crossed for you too, you'll have to let me know how you get on too, please!! Completely understand the nerves, but just think...soon you might have answers to what's going on with your body. And maybe even a plan for how to treat it. Try to focus on that :) xxx

P.s. Yay for no MRSA! :)

Will definitely let you know how it goes. I'm usually such an organised person but I feel a bit lost and like it's not happening and then I'm starting to think they won't find anything. Just can't help but over think it all and worry I'm suppose to be like this forever.

Seem to spend so much time at hospitals having this done, having that done and I'm tired of it all

Sorry to moan just one of them days.

Lots of luck to you for Saturday xx

I'm exactly the same. It feels like I'm never going to get better, like life is on hold until this gets fixed...which again, feels like it might never happen. I keep thinking they won't find anything and I'll just be stuck like this forever. Buuuut, that's not going to happen. We'll both get better, or this will get more manageable. Just need to know what we're facing first.

Never worry about moaning here. Happy to lend a sympathetic ear if you need someone to speak to who understands! Hope today is better for you xx

Hi,

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that it goes ahead. Mine was cancelled on the 15th Feb due to person in front over running (I had no warning at all) and I’ve not heard off the hospital despite calling a few times.

in reply to zedebe

Oh that's awful, I'm so sorry :(

I really hope you hear from them soon. They can be so hard to get hold of! Fingers crossed for you that you get a new date soon and everything goes well x

I’m due to have mine tomorrow and massively panicking right now that it’s going to be cancelled too! I think I read somewhere that you’re supposed to have it rescheduled within 28 days though x

in reply to Dee11

You probably won't see this until after your lap (which I hope went ahead okay!), but I really hope everything went well and that you've got some answers and are resting and not feeling too sore and awful. Let us know how you got on once you're feeling better xx

It’s tomorrow, but thank you! Still checking online like every half hour to see if it’s going ahead 🙈🙈 xx

Oh sorry haha! I read the time on the post above. That, and clearly my brain isn't working today! They've started doing surgeries again at the hospital near me, so I'm hoping if the weather holds off that it will be okay! Do you mind me asking which area of the UK you live in/which hospital you're having your op at? x

I’m in Glasgow, getting my op in the RAH in paisley though. I’ve just had my date cancelled so hoping they get another one through to me soon xx

in reply to Dee11

Oh I'm so sorry, that sucks :( I hope you get a new one really quickly xx

in reply to Dee11

Just had mine cancelled! Gutted :( Pre-op has been rescheduled for 14th, she has no idea when the surgeries will be rescheduled for though. Hope you're okay x

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been absolutely gutted since last night.... it sounds daft but I think because I’d got myself all organised and prepared mentally for it I’m just hating the fact that I’ll need to do it all again. We haven’t heard when we’ll even be told a date or how long that could take yet xx
