Cystectomy: I had a laparoscopy done on... - Endometriosis UK
Cystectomy
I had exactly the same thing, it was the worst part of the recovery....I walked about, took loads of senocat and ate curry...it will pass eventually...good luck
It was the worst ! Lactivo also known as movicol was prescribed by my GP and had me going within 2 hours! It is basically a powder that you mix into a drink. Then you drink 2 pints of water. It causes all of this water to absorb straight into your colon. Then (too much info warning ) a few hours later you pretty much wee your stool out without any struggling at all! It's a bit like a colonic wash out !
I'd get to your GP
Hi, I use to have the same problem as you. I have had 5 laps done in 15 years. Golden linseed has been the answer for me, its a more natural laxative, plus drinking more water definitely helps. I started with two tablespoons mixed with my cereal, then went down to one tablespoon. If you don't like cereals, you can put it in like currys or bolanase. I use golden linseed every day, which is boring but its better then constipation. Hope you feel better soon. Drink plenty of water in the meantime as tea & coffee will dehydrate you. Take are all the best
I use Phole, it's gentle enough to use everyday, the brand probably doesn't matter - it's made from kiwifruit extract, (Zyactinase). (My doc recommended eating a fresh kiwifruit everyday to help but I'm not a big fan of the fruit, the pills are much easier).
I second the Movicol option. It has worked for fecal impaction (tmi!); I highly recommend it.
Its day 11 of my cystectomy, my constipations are better I used flaxseed and prune juice,,,however I still have terrible pains its more like cramps especially having a bowel movement and urinating it horrible,,,i still take Acetaminophen/hydrocodone 325mg every 6 hours. I just want the pains to stop,,also shouldn't I be feeling less pains now?
