Hi...
I had Lavh at age 40...on Hrt patches....not open surgery so recovered quickly.. Although I have had open surgery.. Hang on in there you will get there.. Try and do a little walk every day.. And eat foods high in anti inflammatories (Google) as helps the healing process.. Xxxx
Hi jewels . Thankyou for reply as it's been 3 weeks today . I feel very tiered still . Tummy still very swollen and sore. Still feel a bit confused about Hrt . All I hear is weight gain, and all the negative about it. Xxxx
Hi there. I had my hysterectomy 1yr ago at 43,by keyhole. I also had quite a bit of work done at the same time. You have to take a day at a time. If you need analgesics keep ontop of them regularly don't let the pain break through. You can slowly cut them down until your comfortable and soon you'll be realising that you've gone a day without them. It's important you eat well, try , even if you really don't feel hungry. It's so important to aid recovery but also to have something to absorb the medication. This is where I went wrong and felt poorly because of it. Probiotic drinks are good they really perked me up. I was put on HRT patches straight away and I can honestly say I haven't had any side affects. Weight gain is questionable, maybe partly due to HRT?? Good excuse anyway lol. It will take you time to feel better. You've had major surgery and need to rest eat and drink well. Accept all the help that is offered and take one day at a time. I hope the summer arrives for you to enjoy your recovery in the sun. A little walk if you feel comfortable will help you feel more positive as it's a little achievement on your road to being well I'm a year on and back to doing everything but I know it if I've done too much heavy work my pelvic area gets sore so have to still be careful, your body will let you know if you've over cooked it!! I wish you we'll on your recovery. It's still very early days for you rest, rest, rest and you will benefit from it! Hugs J xx
Aww thankyou so much jalo69. This info has made me feel better already. So glad you don't get any side affects with HRT. Think it's a mith about weight gain. As you say gives people a excuse to gain the weight lol . I know it's still very early days. Think I might be expecting to be back to normal to quick. As I am never off the go . Feel a bit guilty about not being able to Hoover and silly things . As you say I have had major surgery maybe a could let people run after me for a change. I still look about 4/5 months pregnant lol xxxx
Hi. It is really early days still for you. If you do too much now you'll delay your recovery. I had abdominal hysterectomy in 2012 and it took a good 4 months before I felt better. The swelly belly can last up to a year- I think mine lasted for about 6 months- very frustrating. Good American site called hystersisters. Look up swelly belly there but there are also loads of threads about hrt etc too. I kept my ovaries so not on hrt. Please don't rush your recovery. It is major surgery and you need to rest. Let everyone else do the hoovering and cooking. X
Hi - I had a TAH and appendix removed in October last year age 44, I've lost 15kg in weight been on HRT! The only problem I've experienced with HRT was my skin dried out, hair loss plus going grey! But my GP adjusted my dose in January, my skin has never looked so good, hairs great too. I've still swells belly, it takes a long, long time, some days worse than others, I take each day as it comes, regards pain, swelling and fatigue. I wish I hadn't rushed the first few weeks and accepted help that was on offer, but I just wanted normality back. Walking has helped me the mst, started with a few 10 minutes walks now walk least 2 hours a day, takes pain away. But I am still on very high dose pain relief, and awaiting further surgery for endo and adhesions. Take care, just do what you feel like. X
