My last period was 8th June and I them had the lap and dye test on July 1st. They did a pregnancy test before and I was not pregnant. I did not have a period due to the operation. Me and my partner only had sex once on the 1st of August and I did a test last week and it was positive as I was having symptoms. So I am only just over 4 weeks. My midwife is trying to say I'm 3 months and doesn't seem to understand what I am trying to say to explain that using the last date of my period is unreliable and I can't find any advice anywhere. I'm also having some minor cramping is this normal? Does anyone have any experience with this? Ps my midwife will not answer the phone. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Some stretching cramping is normal, so relax. Dating wise, the midwife should know that LMP is only a guide - having known several people who haven't had a period in between children. When you see her again (?8 weeks), explain your history and you will get a dating scan as normal at about 12 weeks. Could you get your GP to confirm dates?

Thank you this has been such a surprise a good one because we weren't sure it would happen but every pain I'm worrying and can't get through to anyone at all. You've put my mind at rest abit now hopefully I will be able to get through I know they must be really busy it's jut such a mix of emotions to go through. Thank you x

Additionally, you could have had a false negative test when you had your lap - if you had intercourse between 8th June and 1st July you could have been pregnant when they did the op, albeit very early pregnant. Which would make you nearly 3 months now. Is that possible?

We were completely unable to be intimate before the op it had got so bad and he was frightened he might hurt me. It's frustrating cause she was quite cross with me saying I should have been in sooner I'd only just found out. I just need to be able to talk to her again. The pains were just worrying me but it should all be fine. It's just a lot to absorb. Thank you for replying to me x

I've never had to see a midwife, but do they have access to all your medical notes? I bet she's looked now and has realised her mistake and feels really silly..

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience at what should have been a happy time :(
