For now i would lke to share a positive note. Ihave had my fare share of this wretched disease but i also consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. I was diagnosed quite fast at 39 because mY gp could feel a growth on my ovary. From then on things have procceded pretty fast! At 40 i had a laparotomy and had my left ovary and tube removed. I had adhesions and a bowel shaving and lasered endometriosis was confirmed with the endometrioma that was also taken. Since then the zoladex a colonoscopy more ultrasound scans and an mri. This brought me up to a laparoscopy in Nov 12 to remove a mass from my rectum. Wn they went in the found my ureters had got caught up in the mass amoungest all the other problems that endo and surgery causes. So they put a ureteric stent in both ureters and referred me to the specialist. Informed that i was stage 4. I had no idea i was that bad. i had the mirena coil fitted so it had masked the severity of my endo . I didnt have periods but i did get the occassional stabbing pains. This was the luck i had without it i know i would have had a very different story to tell. The stents have been hell. It was suggested the next step would be a total hysterectomy.Again im lucky to have had my two children. The stents were to stay max 6 months so after meeting the specialists the hysterectomy was suggested for April. My luck was starting to change the stents became unbearble couldnt walk far gave me endless utis has continually felt like needles up there when i wee and walk. All Because of endometriosis!!! So i get my date for May 6mths exactly, so excited about the stents coming out with the hysterectomy. Op went well keyhole extensive endo adhesions and seems to think i wont have any more problems with it! That said it was straight onto hrt so we shall see! But.. he left the stents in,i couldve cried. He arranged for gp to have me referred back to my local hospital where they were fitted. Eventually 6 weeks later this last Wednsday i went to have them removed under local. i was apprehensive because they can calcify after such along time. Went in he removed one then he tried the second omg because it was calcified too much he had to put it back in when it was partially out.He couldnt complete the op and i was then told that id have to have a general at the bigger hospital close by. Thank goodness i only had a day to wait. He got me on his list for yesterday and thank god they are finally gone. The relief ive had is so uplifting. They have held me back in my recovery from the hysterectomy which was 6 weeks ago ,so i can finally move forward and say adios endo..CHAPTER CLOSED!! Good luck ladies my heart, sympathy, empathy and hugs go out to you all and i hope one day there will be a miracle for us.J XXXX

Wow what a roller coaster of a journey in such a short time! It's great to hear you're feeling better and hopefully will stay endo free
It's positive to share your journey, and you have had a massive one. To stay positive with endometriosis is one of the only ways to keep sane!! Certainly for me anyway. Also like yourself I have had many surgeries and different bowel procedures. I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago, and 2 weeks ago had both ovaries removed, now have a HRT implant.
I hope that everything goes ok for you and wish you a very happy pain free future. xx
Thankyou both for reading my post. I'm often reading updates and thought I'd share mine. It is a horrible horrible disease and I feel guilty about writing something positive when so many girls and women are suffering mentally and physically every minute. However I feel that Endo will always play a part in my life, she scars us inwardly and outwardly and the memories she leaves aren't thought of fondly but she's going under lock and key now . If she dares to escape then I'm fighting god help her!!! Big hugs and keep strong ladies :)) J xx
