when we want to know whether we have diabetes or not, we will be asked to have fasting 8 hours and 2 hr after meal, my question is, why it has to be 2 hr after meal? in my experience the sugar spike reaches its highest point an hour after, not 2 hr, people who use Continuous glucose monitor also tell the same

sorry I thought diabetes was diagnosed by the hba1c blood test.

If we want to know if food spikes us we test before the first mouthful and 2 hours after as it should be down to no more than 2 above first test. So if first test was 5.8 second one 2 hours later should be 7.8 or less
