Early Morning Sensor Fail Alarm: DEXCOM

Hi everyone,

This morning (3:45 am), my sensor that was inserted last Friday alarmed saying that it had FAILED! This was the worst time for that to happen since I also was sound asleep at the time and got a strange and sharp pain from the sensor/transmitter coming off from the skin. I had to catch the transmitter in my hand so it wouldn't fall on my bedroom floor and get hurt/dirty/broken. This was the first time that I've had a sensor fail when sleeping.

I inserted the new sensor today after breakfast because I wouldn't have been able to do the calibrations in the 2 hour warm up otherwise. Plus, when it's in the 2 hour warm up period, you don't get any results. This wouldn't have helped me the rest of the morning.

At my job, I had done the calibrations and the new sensor so far has been working fairly well. I will see how it goes by the time next week comes. I will let you know any updates when I can.

How's your day/evening/night going so far?

Oh so sorry you have to deal with this. It must get so frustrating. Hope things go smoothly now for a long while. 😁

That is very scary! Its hard to go back to sleep in that situation and makes for a longer day. Hoping this replacement works!

I will have to call for a replacement if this one fails, as well.

Hi Leah - well you know what I have to say about those sensors and it isn’t polite! Still if that truly is the only option it’s a crying shame ☹️👎🏻.

I will have my Endocrinology appointment on Monday, so I will have to see what my doctor says.

Hi Leah, poor you, are there any other options as these seem very unreliable. ☹️

I will have to check with the Endocrinologist and see what he wants me to do. It's going to be at 9:30 am for the appointment next week. I will let you all know what's going on when I get back.

I want something that has a way to tell me that I'm running low and still be able work correctly without failing earlier than it's suppose to. Also, I want something that doesn't have to have me do so many tests a day/night. :-)

is it going to rain? Out here, we are getting the upper 90's and partly cloudy for both days.

With my appointment for the morning on Monday, I hope the A1c result is close or less to what the DEXCOM system thinks it should be. :-)

I don't know how you fit everything in. You don't sit still which is the best way! Keep going Leah.

Gosh, not another problem with your DEXCOM! It must be getting you down worrying about it all the time.

TT x.

Sometimes, I do get a little worried, but I call Tech and get them to do something about it.
