I have had type 1 diabetes for a couple of years I am now on insulin tresiba 18 units, since Xmas my levels have been high 19/20 constantly the diabetic nurse has also put me on novarapid 4 units 3 times a day which didn't help, im now on 10 units and my blood sugar readings are still very high, she just keeps increasing it nothing is working, I feel weak to the extent that I'm worried in case it happens when I'm driving, sometimes shakey, tired and thirsty.
I'm getting worried about it, anyone else have this problem?

Koazzy22 - is there a strong history of diabetes in your family?Reason for asking is that there are some genetic forms of diabetes - MODY - that can be mistaken for type 2 - most have onset quite early in adult life but a variant that runs in my family has onset about 30-45. My brother and mother both experienced problems controlling their blood sugars. My brother learnt early on that he was MODY rather than type 2 and was able to change his meds to a different group of medication that helped him control his blood sugars better.
HiMy dad has type 1 diabetes and he finally has his blood sugars stable, they told me yesterday that I am type 1, the tressiba has now increased to 22 units, but still high. I am not overweight, don't drink, eat sensibly and all I drink is water or herbal tea, so not sure what else I can do
Have you talked to your father about how long it took for him to get things under control when he was first diagnosed? If you spent a period on metformin then it is probably worth getting your B12 levels checked as well as metformin can interfere with the uptake of B12 from food.
At present your introduction says that you are type 1 so you may want to edit that - there is an option if you click on the down arrow.
