My suger level was 400+ 10 years ago and now my HbA1C is around 7.Your daily sugar level does not mean anything for a diabetic man.It depends on your food intake and medication.I can talk about my diet and my medication.Morning I take millets, lunch and dinner only Kerala red rice with some cooked vegetables and sambar.snaks include lot of nuts and apple(particularly green one if available)I I make it a point not to fill my stomach with whatever I eat but just to satisfy my hunger. My sugar level came down only after I started on humalog 25-75 injections with minimum tablets. With diabetic tablets you end up with renal problems where as insulin is some kind of a harmony you inject yourself which your body lacks.
I am nearly 70 years old and diabetic for the last 25 years.
Dear friend, I am of your age and have the same problem. I underwent by pass surgery in the year 2008. I do walking, exercise, yoga etc and eat the food similar to your one. First of all, don't be panic about your Diabetes problem. Understand first diabetes mellituous is not a disease but a deformity in body. That means, at your younger age say 25 you could just jump 5 feet horizontally easily. But at this age you can't. Is that worrying you? No. is it not? So, continue your walking, medicines, diet etc as usual. Be happy we are able to walk, talk, do our work as usual. Pray to GOD for peace in mind and show gratitude for his blessings. Love all near by you. Enjoy life. That's all.
Your numbers are shooting up after each meal.Just review your diet.It is mostly rice and little wheat. You have to reduce your dependance on rice and wheat and include more of mixed boiled sprouts, millets, nuts, greens and vegetables so that sugar level does not shoot up after each meal. You have to reorient yourself to new ideas of diet by little experimentation and trial and error.I am too is a south Indian and find it very difficult to manage diabetes with that diet.I gave up idli, dosa and upma and take a mix of sprouts, vegetables and little grain cooked in south Indian style.I also eat few pieces of roasted almonds or one boiled egg. Please venture into innovative diabetes friendly food.
Today,I tried steel cut oats and found the number after 1 1l2 hours to be 137.I cooked as per a video I found on Youtube.Glycemic index of steel cut oats is 42,much lesser than rice, wheat, potato etc.
Insulin glargine (generic name) Lantus (brand name) is used to treat type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not produce insulin and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). It is also used to treat people with type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) who need insulin to control their diabetes. In patients with type 1 diabetes, insulin glargine must be used with another type of insulin (a short-acting insulin). In patients with type 2 diabetes, insulin glargine also may be used with another type of insulin or with oral medication(s) for diabetes. Insulin glargine is a long-acting, man-made version of human insulin. Insulin glargine works by replacing the insulin that is normally produced by the body and by helping move sugar from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy. It also stops the liver from producing more sugar.
Astrapid (brand name) Insulin human (rDNA) is a fast acting insulin.
Instamet (brand name) consists of two drugs viz; Sitagliptin 50 mg and Metformin 500 mg.
Sitagliptin is used along with diet and exercise and sometimes with other medications to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (condition in which blood sugar is too high because the body does not produce or use insulin normally). Sitagliptin is in a class of medications called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances that lower blood sugar when it is high.
Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Metformin is in a class of drugs called biguanides. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood.
Gemer 2 Tablet contains Glimepiride (2mg), and Metformin (500 mg) as active ingredients.
Glimepiride is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glimepiride lowers blood sugar by causing the pancreas to produce insulin (a natural substance that is needed to break down sugar in the body) and helping the body use insulin efficiently. This medication will only help lower blood sugar in people whose bodies produce insulin naturally.
Since your blood sugar is very high, I advise you to take ecosprin 75 mg daily in consultation with your doctor to avoid heart attack, stroke etc.
Your FBS and PPBS are very high. I suspect that carbohydrate content in your diet is very high. You may have insulin resistance also. Please undergo HbA1c test.
