Cut out on fine grain dishes like idli , rice and dosa. Take chapattis made of multi grain atta Consisting of wheat 20 parts whole Bengal gram 2 parts , Millet, corn, barley and soya bean 1 part each. Use 1 coffee spoon fengugreek seeds roasted and ground either soaked overnight or otherwise early morning with two glasses of water and see if this improves your blood sugar level.Check after a fortnight.

You have to reduce your carbohydrate intake gradually to the level of 100 gms per day and shift on LCHF diet. A glass of horlicks is also loaded with 20-25 gms of carbohydrate. So please replace the horlicks with full cream butter milk along with any multivitamin like Supradyn. 30 Minutes moderate morning and evening walk after dinner will do.

Reducing weight may help in controlling diabetes but it depends on weather you are insulin resistant or not. Not all diabetic persons are insulin resistant even after being overwieght. Some are insulin deficient. So for such a persons weight reduction is not going to help for controlling diabetes. Diet correction would help more than weight reduction. Best way is to adopt LCHF diet.

Search on this forum for LCHF diet. Lot of details have been posted here.
