Diabetes - possible causes and some suggestions for new diabetics fo reversal.

I have been given to understand by my doctors that diabetes can only be managed, not cured. But people who follow the LCHF diet and those who follow the starch diet have reversed the condition. Reversed means that whatever was there, is still ahead if we follow the same path.

The sad thing is that MBBS and further specialisation ignores nutrition entirely.

A nutritionist and doctor has said that diabetes is a condition that is the result of several imbalances. Perhaps it is those imbalances that lead to our visceral and tissue accumulation of fat. He is on

youtu.be/4bcK6lMV9mA

He has suggested several tests and correction of the imbalances if any. Since we do not have any one doing these and we are left with only FBS, PPBS, HbA1C and OGTT we may have to wait a decade for any adaptation here.

But there are a few things that we can do.

1. Check blood level of vitamin D3. My husband, an avid gardener out in the sun most of the time has insufficient D3. He is prone to fractures. Living in the tropics does not ensure optimism D levels. And he eats fats too.

2. Take a short walk after meals. He suggests having a heavy breakfast followed by a 45 minutes walk, a medium lunch and 20 min walk and a light supper followed by another walk. I tried this and walked in my drawing room or went upstairs and vigorously pulled down the clothes from the clothesline etc. It brings down the PPBS by at least 20 m.g.d.l in my case.

3 The talk is terribly boring and verbose. He does not want to give out too much info as he wants to sell his book etc.

But I like to know what is going on.

There are people who get sebaceous cysts. Some are excised and there is a cure. Some put some natural remedies and it bursts. Some have the pus cultured and are treated on antibiotics. But almost in all cases, they come back. The bacteria is Streptococus. We all get it on our skins, but we do not get the cysts. What is it that causes some to have reduced immunity to the bacteria? I had a colleague with this problem. He was clean, vegetarian, had perfect blood reports and yet had this. The homeopathic treatment prohibits trigger foods. How can this be if it is bacterial? The homeopathy, long drawn out brings results.

Diabetes has no cure in Ayurveda or homeopathy. Only management. But as Wes Youngberg says, if cause is removed, the results would also disappear.

@MRA13, I can quite understand your frustration with the treatment of diabetes. I was myself diagnosed with diabetes in mid 2013. I took medication till end 2014. Thereafter I experimented with various diets. Now i have come across the ketogenic diet which is working like magic. My sugars (FBS, PPBD, HbA1C) are all at the same level as a healthy non-diabetic individual. I am waiting to check my blood lipids to confirm that health markers will show that i have become normal. You are right about the fact that the imbalances in our diet and nutrition is what aggravates diabetes - which is a metabolic maladjustment. I too have heard this statement that diabetes can only be managed but not cured, but I am reading more to find out if in the near future I can also be cured !

Yes.

Real homeopathy philosophy never suggests a formula drug applicable to all cases . It's approach is highly individualistic , though some cases can be cured by some medicines , if the system is not complicated with many deficiencies ,toxins , and abuses . But like every where much greed , carelessness ,and malpractices have taken inroads in to that system of medicine also . To day in any field, we find search for quick fix solutions & instant results Homeopathy is not an exception to this unethical practice . Other wise we can cure diabetes. The answer lies in the very fact that a particular member of a family is struck with a particular disease , even though the food living conditions , familial background and exposure is same for all the other members also. There is a triggering factor in the case of that particular person , which has to be taken in to account while prescribing a medicine . It is not like giving an over the counter medicine . Who is taking that committed responsibility in today's rat race for money , recognition and possessions .

WE don't have doctors like '' Kent ,Nash ,William ,William Boericke , Lippe etc to day , to whom medical practice is thapas.

LONG WHEAT ? I think it samba wheat. I heard that if you reduce rice start with samba wheat diet you get fantastic results. I think it is better than Ketogenic diet. Do not know ketosis if caused by ketogenic diet, is normal. If problem what is the normal ketosis level ?

What exactly is Samba Wheat? I thought it was Emmer. It resembles Rye, It could be Trticale, hybrid of wheat and rye. Rye has some compounds which are supposed to help reverse diabetes. Perhaps Samba has the same chemistry. I will read up and come back to the forum. I will try to get my cousin, a nutrition PhD in the matter.

We diabetics are interested in the whys and hows. No one else is bothered.

I am interested in the Ketogenic diet myself. But I enjoy the starch diet because I can feel satisfied with starch-the sweet aftertaste and the larger quantity. Even if I eat a cup of rice and half a cup of dal and vegetables, with Rasam or buttermilk etc I feel full and satisfied. But I do not get the same satisfaction from a double omelette stuffed with chicken. It is the habit. Further, it is easier to overeat on calorie dense foods and oils. It takes a lot of potatoes or rice to equal that. But if you have an eating disorder, or you are a voracious eater, you can overeat on both.

Further, the Ketogenic diet needs strict monitoring. It is easier to do the starch diet because I only need to avoid oils an animal foods. I do eat an egg or a tiny bit of chicken or fish occasionally, which is against the rules, but my numbers are improving and I never go up to even 90 fasting now-a days. But after eating cakes, chakli etc. it was 99.

My PPBS is around 120-130 now. I have incorporated the 30 minutes of exercise after breakfast and 20 minutes after lunch and dinner. My exercise is doing the more strenuous household chores, which I have reserved for this time. I pull out stuff from cupboards, carry it to the terrace and spread out for airing. I put them back after the next meal. There are hundreds of chores which are as strenuous as walking.

But I have not stopped medicines. I am now using Lantus 13 units, Glucomet 500 SR one tab and Glucomet 250 in the evening.

My concern is Triglycerides with the starch diet. These were well within the normal range at last testing but LDL was high. Hdl was low, but higher than my normal results, below 30. My cholesterol was 212. No statins. They cause me muscle pain and even lower hdl. Total cholesterol with roseday on alternate days dipped to 140.

Pritkin, with his reduced fat diet had perfect arteries, but he developed cancer. Very low cholesterol is associated with cancer.

Serum Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) (UV Kinetic- 15 U/L

Serum Alanine Aminotransferase[ALT] (UV KIinetic I- 16 U/L

Serum Cholesterol (CHOD PAP) 212 mg/dL

Serum Triglycerides (Tg) (GPO Enzymatic) 134 mg/dL

Serum HDL Cholesterol (Homogeneous enzymatic) 33 mg/dL

Serum LDL Cholesterol (Homogeneous enzymatic) 167 mg/dL

Serum VLDL (Calculated) 26 mg/dL

Serum Cholesterol/HDL ratio (Calculated) 7.7

HbA1c- 7.7 %

This result was of my last blood test, taken immediately after I returned from Bangalore this November. I was not on any kind of diet then, ate sweets, pizza, KFC and all sorts of junk during the previous two weeks.

My Cholesterol is always 212. Bad things above is Total Cholestero;, Ldl, hdl and blood sugar. I understand that it is not LDL that you should see, but the number of particles.

As pointed by anup your high TG/HDL ratio and 167 for LDL increases the chances of having high LDL particle no. or apo B.

Are Cholesterol / TG / HDL / LDL etc, the cause of diabetes ? I am recently diagnosed with Diabetes and nothing in my LIPID report were in normal range . Can it be the cause of diabetes ?

Patients are blamed for poor control. But major part of the blame goes for the doctors who increase the dosage instead of diet change. Increase in dosage although decreases blood sugar for the situation, it causes increase in stored sugars and result more problems and more money for doctors. Read about ketogenic diets and vitamin D requirement for diabetes. Some patients have more and useful information than these doctors.

I agree fully. They find when you start medication, you feel more hungry and take more food. Then your levels are increasing. Instead of telling you to increase your physical activities and adjust your food, they say "no problem. Take one more tablet".

Thus you adjust your diabetes at a different level. Are they doing a service as doctors or business people???
