Fasting glucose of 150 is not that bad actually and Hb1ac of 6.7 is not bat at all either; however drop the cholesterol medication which all are "statins" family regardless which brand and here is why: If you take statin of any kind your side effects will be muscle pain which becomes chronic to the point of not being able to walk and sleep due to muscles cramps. Also they deplete the calcium from the bones and attack the nervous system also (many people have die from taking statins) . Doctors are very ignorant as far as treating diabetes, cholesterol, and other health problems. You can control cholesterol with diet period and I would recommend you take CoQ10 400 mg which supports just about everything in the human body (cholesterol, blood pressure, heart, etc.). Regarding your glucose, measures it at about midnight or 1 am, write it down; and then also at about 4 am and write it down. If you are higher at 4 am than at midnight or 1 am then you have what is called the dawn effect reason why your fasting glucose is high and in which case take the medication before 4 am; then, as soon as you get up measure it and see what it is (should be lower). Take the medication as prescribed (Metformin or Glucophage) and also before 4 am. You have to measure the glucose constantly and see how the medication affects you also so you don't drop too low which is very dangerous. Learn the symptoms also of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia so you know when you are too low or too high. For a diabetic person the range of glucose should be from 100 to 140; so, if you are in that range is OK. as far as the Hb1ac the range is between 6 and 8. Just a tip: For a non diabetic person the glucose should be in the range of 75 to 120 and the Hb1ac between 4.5 and 6. Also, follow a diet dropping sugars, salt, and cholesterol. Remember: Drop the statin you are taking what ever it is and just follow a healthy diet (don't ingest milk or any kind of derivatives and adopt the alkaline diet). Good luck!

Sorry Jack, any derivative of milk is reach in cholesterol, but it is true that with a good diet diabetes may be control to a point. Reducing the amount of carbs is a good advise though. However, you forgot "fiber". A diabetic person should intake between 40 to 60 grams of fiber daily. All in all, the alkaline diet is the best which is based on green legumes and use olive oil all the time.
