I am using Alpha lipoic acid 300 mg capsules daily since 20 days and I have reduced my insulin intake by about 25%. Can Any body inform whether long term side effects may result. At present I am perfectly O.K. with this as per the comment of medfree.

I got ALA 300 mg of Zenith ordered through net and started taking it last 10 days or so., Before that I had Meganeuron OD for about a month as prescribed by a doctor. [MEGANEURON-OD PLUS cap: biotin 5 mg, methylcobalamin 1500 mcg, pyridoxine hydrochloride 5 mg, benfotiamine 50 mg, folic acid 5 mg, alpha lipoic acid 200 mg.] I am sure it was a good prescription for my DPN since my thighs and bottom of feet are NUMB quite often though Sugar is getting well controlled now.

However with ALA 300 mg once before Lunch I face a problem of acidity, like GERD. Took Rantidine 150 2/3 days to counteract. Really do not know what to do. I wish to try ALA for 3 months and reduce weight while improving energy level.

ALA was not expected to create acidity as a side effect. Is it temporary?
